Concord to extend Sheens' contract

2007 saw us lose to the side trying to avoid the wooden spoon when we were trying to lock in 8th spot and we had a lead we meakly surrendered with an unused player on the bench for 80 minutes.

Depth is the job of the coach. He picked up alot of rubbish. Part of that I accept may be through circumstance but his experimentation really hurt us.

He may be the reason that we are building but he is also the reason behind our previous failures if you logically extrapolate that premise.

I do not see any extension of contract as an unmitigated disaster but I think it is unwise to dismiss our prior failings. The pressure for success applied by the administration seems to have worked wonders.

Anyway any extended discussion of this can wait for the off season from my perspective

What is the go with Fitzy

I have posted the question a few times.

Is he contracted for 2011???

I think he has grown in the back half of the year. I mean fitzy was less sighted. We saw him play a 4 man big bench vs the roosters. I'm torn because we are building and a new coach might hamper that… But he has failed for a long time.

I would not be signing more then a 1 at the absolute maximum 2 year contract

No he is not ….but I could see Fitzy take on a similar role like Skando....Playing with the lowers like that old rug you just can't bare to get rid off...you know... insurance...

Unless of course another Club is interested in the services of Fitzhenry...

I can live with that…

You cld see it coming…one good year in five & we sign him up for the next three years!Apart from being much relieved,Sheens wld be over the moon..
Acknowledge he's done a good job this year, but still think some fresh ideas & new perspectives wld benefit the team(& Sheens for that matter)
And still think better recruitment, better use of the bench,& addressing player weaknesses wld have progressed us further

Still the best man for the job imo. Too many critics over the last few years, I mean this is the first season we have had a semi decent halfback since Prince left and he hasn't even played the whole year. This year has also been constantly disrupted by injuries and look where we are atm. I look forward to more consistent top 8 finishes in the years to come. Very confident about this decision Mr Sheens knows what hes doing ppls and I couldn't seen any other coach in charge

Not really happy either that Sheens is extended his contract but happy that Folkes is becoming part of the coaching panel. Like to see former players like Skando and Hodgo join the coaching ranks over the next couple of years.

Ok with Sheens potential extension. I am sure he will bring Payten under his wing some time in the future to kick start his coaching ambitions. If the club does not lock him up (assuming both parties are happy) them Souths will pick him up in a heart beat. The guys still shows innovation in his plays, still gets wraps from his peers and players, which is a lot more than some coaches are getting at present.

Yes we had an average #7 in the past.
Guess who chose him.

Look, no ones perfect. Sheens has his positives & negatives.

His Jnr development is the best in the world imo…
I'm over it all tho, we seem to be finally moving forward and personally my fave is our forward depth looks quite strong.
He's gotten it right - finally- had plenty of chances, he should be grateful we were patient and stuck with him, he owes us and our lettuce leaf board.

Sheens owes us alright..

Hopfully he can deliver a little back starting tonight…. 😛ray:

i think it will be a great decision to extend tim's contract he is a terrific coach and has the respect of the club and the players and all the supporters love tim so i hope that tim does decide to extend his contract

what i'd pay to see what colour mulvi's shiny noggen turned when he found out!

I seem to be like a few of you guys. A promising future but weary of a poor past after 05\. One year might not be long enough to keep him if Souths are serious with their interest. In saying that, the opposition coaches weren't too happy after the 05 season so the game has changed in the past 5 seasons. I can't see that happening in future seasons. A 2 or 3 year deal would be the right result here. Farah and Marshall are locked in long term and so are the next tier of quality players like Ellis, Heighington, Gibbs, Galloway, etc. Success is possible.

Could this be the smartest sounding sentence ever constructed here? I mean… wow
