Conference system

Just on the 18th team is there even a current proposal on the table for a team in NZ. I remember Wellington Orcas or similar being floated years ago but only know if the Brisbane teams, central coast bears, and Perth Pirates as current expansion bids.

Don't think there is. Abdo has mentioned 18th team and NZ a few times now over the last month or so

I like the teams that have earnt the right getting a second chance, I also don't like the finals being split by conferences. Just me being an old man complaining lol. I still miss the old top 5, I like the rivalries created when teams play each other twice during the finals.

Anyway once the top 8 is sorted in both conferences I’d say it’ll be the normal top 8 system

That is not what the article says, it says that the top 4 from each conference will play a knockout against each other with the winner of the 2 conferences playing the Grand Final. It would mean we could never have an all Sydney Grand Final under that system.

Perth ain't getting a team while VLandys is in charge. He came here for the 9s and whinged that no one was at the ground at 2 o'clock on a Friday in 42deg heat. He arrived arrived and left the same day.

Mate, I don't agree its nitpicking to prefer a finals system that retains the possibility of any combination of 2 teams playing the Grand Final.

I will say for @hobbo1 I am actually a finals system nerd. I created a top 8 system based on the old top 4 and 5 systems and sent it to the NRL a few years ago lol
