This whole thing does seem to be playing out a lot like the Cleary saga. Let’s just hope we come out on top again.

How did we come out on top from the Cleary saga?

Cleary went.

Left us broke

We already were?

@Curaeus We are talking about The Weststigers, the board will be in a foetal position even contemplating a move against the NRL or anyone one else. The only person that had any backbone was shown the door ... they will just roll over as always . This is why the Weststigers are the joke of the league , we can talk all we like about players being soft but the realisation is it’s the marshmallows that run the club , what an embarrassment ! This is why players managers line up ..,

Can I back the Magpies in next years CC cup? McQueen, Packer, Matulino, Jennings, Matterson, Reynolds we are specials to win the comp.

I'm starting to think that this is coming from the club when you read the smh articles. If it's from his management they are not painting him in a good light.
One thing I would not do is give him top dollar like some say on here. Yep good year but it could still be an outlier. Small upgrade but nothing more. I've seen to many people have a purple patch and go back to average

We got a better coach and another club is paying for it.

@Wounded_magpie Where there is smoke there is fire.. Even Coach didn't shut it down on TV last night.. If there was nothing to it he would of made a point to shut it down on live TV... If he wants out this bad we really have no choice as you don't want a player here that doesn't want to be and he is not interested in extending for a higher salary..

So ... If he wants out I for one don't let him walk without something.. I say we look at a possible player trade so we can atleast get something..

I'm somewhat pessimistic about this situation but hopefully it can be resolved for the benefit of everyone.

If Ryan isn't enjoying the hard work that will reflect poorly on him when looking for a new club - they won't know whether he will be willing to work hard for them.

If he wants to go to Ivan, arrange a swap for Viliame Kikau - as much as I like Matterson as a player I would willingly make that swap.

Not if Hodgson is coaching.

And we are paying for it until 2021.

Yep but we would have been regardless of if he stayed or left. At least we got rid of a bloke that made a huge mess, got a better coach and got paid to do it.

@Snake We are pretty well finished as a competitive entity if you are right! Anyone we sign-and every other club-will know it doesn't matter what our contract says, it can be cut short or modified in the players favour anytime by just trotting out this kind of "I'm unhappy" garbage in the media. The board needs to grow a pair and start belting some people!

For starters Kikau or whoever would want to come here ..

That article rambles on about how he's unhappy, etc... But doesn't name why he's unhappy. They say it's not the money, it's not the coach. Then what in the bloody hell is it then??? What a load of crap. How this situation has escalated to this point is beyond me

Bigger issue is that when players reach their potential they all choose to leave Wests Tigers.
We need to sort this out too many players for it to be a coincidence.

Yep, that is THE issue................100% spot on.

The current finals series has got Tigers everywhere, on almost every team.

For whatever reason (actually, it is well known...poor facilities, lower levels of professional support staff...and on and on) but it has been a huge trend the past 5 years.

We need to address it and fix it.

@Curaeus As a supporter it gets frustrating watching our club turn the other cheek.. the people that run and make the decisions have to show some backbone and let player managers and the NRL know that our club will not tolerate this behaviour ..if that means sourcing the third party out so be it and the NRL realise there are rules!

@gallagher And we're still picking up the pieces.

We so need a break

No, need better management. The fool that has stuffed our cap, brought Cleary here and signed off on those contracts is still in charge.
