Guaranteed they'll never prove anything. NRL has pretty weak player manager powers anyway.

Not sure why Madge would choose Matterson to spray out of that whole team... Also, Matterson deciding to up it and leave after one season just because of some words is a joke (if true). Really hope he stays and all is resolved. Can't bear to see the likes of Tedesco, Addo-Carr, Papenhuyzen, Taupau, AND Matterson running around in the NRL while we have the likes of Jennings and co.

Just to add to this also... I'm a staunch supporter of Madge, but I seriously can't believe how he could spray a player like Matterson to the point where he's wanting to leave, while Jennings is still around this club! And he bloody signed him!

This was first muted as a vague rumour by the lurker around the start of August.
Quoted below:

“There are rumblings out of a Sydney club about an in-form recruit struggling to get along with the coach.

Other clubs are aware of the situation and are monitoring it closely in case the player wants a fresh start next year. The issue is believed to stem from some choice words aimed at the player from the coach in front of the team.”

That lines up with the weeks between the Raiders game and the Newcastle game.
If anyone can remember Madge questioned some of the players character after the raiders loss and said they need to find it within.
The following week one of the most notable changes was Matterson moving from his favoured right back row position and moved to lock “this is the exact reason he left the roosters in the first place as they did offer him the position of lock”.
His minutes had been reduced for 80 to 60 with the positional change.

I’m not so sure this isn’t something to worry about.

That is concerning. If it's just about money there is scope to resolve it. Relationships take a bit more work, and can't always be repaired - as we already know. Let's hope there is some quality mediation going on.
A big problem at our club is the disparity in pay. The players who are doing the best work are earning way less than those earning the big dollars. It has to be corrected or there will be unrest till it is.

What a pointlessly wide spray, you have no idea that this potential Matto issue has anything to do with issues at Souths. And he won a comp at Souths, so he was doing something right.

I'll take disgruntled players if Madge can also deliver a premiership!

By all accounts DWZ joined Bulldogs after a late pitch by them, but he was considering Tigers. If he didn't want to play under Madge we never would have been linked to him.

But anyway, spray people based on innuendo, by all means.

@CarltonDry The club is soft the player group is soft the mental attitude is garbage .. if players are soft and do not want to come because of Madge they can get stuffed ! There are plenty that want an opportunity and would be willing to put in!
The club has to make a decision whether finally having a team with a hard edge .. but then again the boardroom table is a marshmallow!

Other Clubs can't make any offers until Nov 1 2020 or even expressions of interest..a week is a long time in RL ..let alone 2 years..

The NRL has no balls..they should be hauling player managers over the coals for this sort of crap
