@cqtiger
I was recently reading a book about forensics by one of the people that started the use of suspect profiling by the FBI and was the first to use it and have it tested in court. He says that not a lot of the stuff trumpeted by Pease is of much use in suspect interviews. Sorry I'm being very general but I'm just relying on memory. If I can find the book I'll quote a few of the things he says about body language.

Tedesco, Moses, Woods, Fifita, Teo, JAC, Koriebete, Taupau, Papynuyzen. Bad management or otherwise we have too much quality leaving and not enough coming. Even Cleary jumped hip.

Broncos: Kahu, Maguire, Nikorima, Opacic, Pearson, Jimmy Jet, Korbin Sims, Su'A, Arrow, Ese'ese, Hunt, Benji, Mead, Blair, Wallace.

Sharks: Flanagan, Brailey, Holmes, Edrick Lee, Leutele, Ramien, Segeyaro, Jack Bird, Latimore, Maloney, T-Rex, Barba

Panthers: Blake, RCQ, CHN, Maloney, Merrin, Peachey, DWZ, Cartwright, Hiku, Latu, TMM, Moylan, Oldfield, Hardaker, Segeyaro, ET,

That's just the past 3 seasons. I get what you are saying but in respect of quality leaving, most clubs have it in buckets. Certainly, other clubs have differing levels of players in and out from year to year, but also, Tigers have historically been a pretty decent club for promoting and identifying juniors. There is potentially a good crop of kids at the club right now.

But fundamentally, we are a Tedesco away from being a finals side with the current roster, and unfortunately Tedescos are once-in-generation.

Where will this "potentially good crop of kids go".....the NRL has to stop this flow of big name players exiting from one club to another, and ALL clubs should be made responsible for keeping these "potentially good kids" in their (at their) own clubs. Problem solved:smiley:

Was hoping this would be dead by now. History shows that the longer it goes on the more likely its based on some sort of truth.

Can blame the kid. I would think the "i signed for Ivan" might be a cop out. I'd wager its more likely " i want a long and successful career of finals at a well organized and funded club"

I hope that this is one time that Wests dont bend over and take whatever is given. Please, just for this one time be ruthless for the betterment of the club, not the player.

How do we know its not dead? If he doesn't leave, there's nothing to announce.

it's a lose-lose tbh.

we let him go and we are spineless. we keep him and he turns out to be another M Moses- played like crap with us to get out of the contract and then killed it at another club. as the newspaper article said "WT are the doormat of rugby league" Tedesco/Moses already wiped their dirt over us..

That’s the problem. These clubs usually lose players when they have another come through cheaper or recruited. We have lost young players on the upside for a very long time. Their best days are rarely at Wests Tigers. Losing expensive ageing players I can understand even when they are good but we lose young players coming into their prime and the club is used as a stepping stone or a Doormat.

Huge giveaway in the Madge interview. Some of you will laugh at this but it’s used widely and heavily: when Madge commented on Matterson’s Strong contribution to the team he involuntarily scratched around his left eye - sure sign that he was not saying it as he really sees it. Believe it or don’t believe it, up to you. Made me think this is a serious issue and Madge is perhaps not real happy with him.

Having seen the situation with Cleary telling us one thing but the truth being something else i for one believe you.

I think we are in trouble here.

The most straightforward answer is for NRL to take responsibility for all junior football and bring all talent into a draft system at 18 years of age. Kids can't play firsts until 18 anyway and you let them play for any local club until 18, after which they enter the draft.

Clubs can put draftees straight into firsts or their own Jersey Flegg, or development positions in their first grade squad. They play for the club for 2 or 3 years, then they can move on.

It works in other codes esp USA and it would be a key mechanism for ensuring the spread of talent, which is currently hoarded or pillaged depending on who you are and what geographical area you come from.

Possibly you grant exemptions for developing areas, e.g. Melbourne kids could always feed into Storm first if they choose.

Despite being an obvious thing to do, I fully understand the mechanism would be extremely difficult to implement.

But it would be fair and even way to distribute talent and remove the challenge of clubs investing in kids who move on.

Matterson is legally committed to us for the next 2 years. We need to stand tough on this or we will deserve the doormat status a lot of people think we already have. If he were to deliberately play poorly in games because we won't grant him a release he will seriously damage his own standing in the game and ultimately his value to another club if and when he does shove off in 2 years time!

It's hard to believe that he only just realised that the WT don't fit the bill. He played with Tedesco last season and is good mates with Twal and Aloiai. Surely he spoke to them before he signed.

What crap. He could have committed to a full time venue in his first year. Your excuses for him are so lame.

You tell me who at Tigers is going to let the CEO move us lock-stock to one ground in his first year. You are dreaming.

You can campaign against the bloke all you like and he has faults, but the idea that he hasn't magically turned us into a 1-ground club within his first few years is ridiculous.

A good CEO would get it done. We've got someone just happy to plod along like his predecessors. Ho-hum, he fits right in.

or 5 home grounds.

That's a new one, you mean the >2 home grounds we've had since 2004?

Tell me, is Pascoe also responsible for Balmain's 1989 Grand Final loss or Wests runners up 1961-63?

Well one of 2 things he said he'd do when he turned up was that he'd get us playing out of 1 ground. How'd he going with that?

Well he's not finished yet. Judge him when he's gone on that one.

If you reckon a CEO, any CEO, can get Wests Tigers to a single home ground inside of, what, 4 seasons, if that's the pass mark... well... well I hope you sign him up for life if we actually do move full-time to 1 stadium.

He has got it down, has he not, diluted the CSS and LO games to just 3 each? Maybe Tamworth and Auckland / Magic Millions rounds are smart moves to gradually reduce our reliance on CSS and LO, in anticipation of a full-time move somewhere else?

With 2 new stadia coming in the next few seasons, surely this is as likely a time as any for Tigers to consolidate grounds?

What crap. He could have committed to a full time venue in his first year. Your excuses for him are so lame.

And the contracts we signed for these current grounds - what do we do with those?

Did we have a contract at LO and CSS? I know we do now, they were re-signed last year for this year and next. I would say don't sign them in the first place.

Too simple thinking for such a complex situation.

This sums up the issue for me completely. There are broad unsubstantiated claims at how poorly our club is run but there are no specific details and no playing devil's advocate.

I have no idea what Matterson's problem is but he should stay and see out his contract or we should be able to trade for him and get a player just as good or better for the same dollars or less. The trade has to be advantageous to us.

I fail to see what else the club can do.

I was under the impression that we had a long contract with ANZ, because of the planned renovations and the inability of ANZ to fulfill their part of the bargain - our contract / or part thereof was transferred to Bankwest. Anyone know the real story?

I don't believe any of that body language readings. I also believe we are in trouble here. I think our best forward by a mile wants out because he is underpaid and he is a spoilt brat. Great player but a weak human being. Just like Tedesco.

@TYGA Wests tigers almost only get the old aging players, i.e. Packer, Reynolds and Matulino for big money and let go their up and comers for almost free. That is a very serious indictment on the club and one I hope Madge quickly turns around. I and nearly all other Wests tigers supporters have had enough.

Yes the contract with Homebush was transfered to bankwest. You think they would not have altered the contract to play all our games there if we asked?

Let's see how we go over the next couple of years but I think Madge is already turning this around. Those are the worst signings you can make. Players that are past their best but potentially at their peak earnings.

@gallagher Of course it would be ! but unfortunately the Weststigers theme song by Skyhooks Living in the seventies rings out at board meetings . 😂 Pascoes not to blame for not wanting or moving to 1 home ground that decision comes from higher up !
