I agree with the money angle but disagree with the relationship part. Maguire spoke confidently and looked directly at Johns when he was answering about his relationship with Matterson. He vacillated about working through 'things', money things?, finals things? other things?
Bottom line is, he started his answer saying he's contracted to play with WT for two more years.

Agreed on his approach as answering as to his view on the relationship, but only from his side, not so from Ryan's.

I think we all expected Matterson to be crowned the Kelly-Barnes winner for best player in 2019. Ultimately, it went to Luke Brooks; one of the “old guard” of the club. I’m not sure how Matterson measures his success, but missing out on that may well have got his nose out of joint, particularly in terms of 1. above.

He wants to be an 80 minute edge back row player thats why he turned down Cronulla for more money and less minutes to play for the Tigers for less money and 80 minutes

If you sign on for less and the agreement is you play 80 minutes but less cash why would he not be upset why take less if your not getting what you want you have one career make the most of it as a player

I very much doubt agreements of where you play are written into contracts these days...

It's interesting the way players and managers are negotiating contracts these days. So much more than just signing on to play for a club. If in fact that was part of the negotiation and he accepted less money to come to the club with that in my mind and we guaranteed it, well he may have some justification in his current disatisfaction.
He certainly would not have expected the coach who discussed the terms not to be there, cause no one did. Let's hope they can sort it out which would be the best outcome for player and club. He certainly gave his all this year on the field despite any feelings of frustration - and that's all you can ask of any player.

After watching Madge on MJ Show, the one thing i took out of it is Matto won't be going anywhere and if he does, i don't see Madge being the kind of bloke to be bent over. I think it would end favourably for us. Still, from the clubs point of view it would be much better for us if Matto wanted to stay and be talking the place up.
