@formerguest
I agree with the money angle but disagree with the relationship part. Maguire spoke confidently and looked directly at Johns when he was answering about his relationship with Matterson. He vacillated about working through 'things', money things?, finals things? other things?
Bottom line is, he started his answer saying he's contracted to play with WT for two more years.

Agreed on his approach as answering as to his view on the relationship, but only from his side, not so from Ryan's.

We just put a poll up on Facebook asking fans whether they’d back Maguire or Matterson if push comes to shove. Not looking to good for Ryan with 90% of respondents backing the coach.

What's your page?

That eye scratch was pretty damning. Matto is gonski. Another player to immensely dislike along with our other old friends

I think we all expected Matterson to be crowned the Kelly-Barnes winner for best player in 2019. Ultimately, it went to Luke Brooks; one of the “old guard” of the club. I’m not sure how Matterson measures his success, but missing out on that may well have got his nose out of joint, particularly in terms of 1. above.

You are thinking too hard.

@Harvey Well said, Matterson can pull his head in - at $425,000 per season for the next 2 years he’s earning more than our insipid pig of a PM.
I hope Maguire flogs Matterson over the sand dunes all summer - might pickup a few tips from the Phar Lap movie.

He wants to be an 80 minute edge back row player thats why he turned down Cronulla for more money and less minutes to play for the Tigers for less money and 80 minutes

If you sign on for less and the agreement is you play 80 minutes but less cash why would he not be upset why take less if your not getting what you want you have one career make the most of it as a player

Or playing in the middle and doing well which he did would only enhance your chances of Rep selection as it shows you can handle both positions well...

I very much doubt agreements of where you play are written into contracts these days...

@Regan it was his decision to move into the middle....he wants to ball play more often.....in the middle he’s sees the ball fare more.....I can’t see any team picking him up to play half

It's interesting the way players and managers are negotiating contracts these days. So much more than just signing on to play for a club. If in fact that was part of the negotiation and he accepted less money to come to the club with that in my mind and we guaranteed it, well he may have some justification in his current disatisfaction.
He certainly would not have expected the coach who discussed the terms not to be there, cause no one did. Let's hope they can sort it out which would be the best outcome for player and club. He certainly gave his all this year on the field despite any feelings of frustration - and that's all you can ask of any player.

No but it could be the type of thing he uses to hide the fact he just wants to play for a different team

After watching Madge on MJ Show, the one thing i took out of it is Matto won't be going anywhere and if he does, i don't see Madge being the kind of bloke to be bent over. I think it would end favourably for us. Still, from the clubs point of view it would be much better for us if Matto wanted to stay and be talking the place up.

All this stuff is bad publicity for the cub

I hope none of those clowns at 9 are in his ear! Letting him know he has a better chance adding value and getting a rep jersey if he considers this!

Yet again! Be nice to have an off season without negative news surrounding us...just for once!
