@MAGPIES1963 Imo Lawrence muddied his reputation by coming out three days before our last season game going on about wanting his contract renewed. Should have been all about the game. But even someone with as big a club record and legacy as him couldn't resist but drag us a bit through the mud.

A couple of years ago my oldest boy asked me who my favourite player was, that was currently playing. And I thought about it, and I couldn't tell him. I didn't have one. Still don't. Who is the one player who will do anything for our club and never even dream of playing for another against us? I don't know any these days. Even our two current/past greats in Robbie and Benji played against us. Lawrence said he would if he had to just days before our last game.

To be fair though, there aren't many clubs in the who league have a player like that, who would stay. I'm struggling to think of any actually, any player at any club who would stay with their club no matter what. who has never publicly looked at leaving publicly, because we can't know personally).

I disagree, he had to take the opportunity to put his case out there, do you think if he tried to that this week anyone would be listening to him? He wants to play next year, what else should he do?

I don't think he should be dropped to reggies as a form of punishment (if that is what you mean). If his form is poor, then yes. Otherwise, he has too much to offer to drop. Hopefully, it won't come to that and the club can arrange an acceptable trade.

Yeah, couldn't believe my eyes when reading some comments stating that we need to cut Chris and or even Benji to accommodate the whims of Matterson to keep him.

For the reported $350k next year (425 in 2021), I would definitely be playing the you're staying unless we get a good deal card for 2020 and he can either apologise to his teammates or mope around.

The guy is getting more than the average top squad player and signed up for probably 200% more than he was getting at the chooks last year, so has little basis to complain money wise. If there are other genuine reasons for Ryan to be unhappy, then they must be adequately addressed and a small upgrade arranged.

@cochise I think he should have waited. It was poor form. The game should have been the only priority. But of course we screwed that up with the whole Is Robbie playing thing. It was a mess, in hindsight. But Chris' focus was not on the game first, it was his future first. To me that's not putting the club first, which was what I was talking about.

That's the only blemish on an otherwise outstanding career though (to my knowledge). He's still done better than anyone else we have at the moment. I think the standard I am looking for in these players just doesn't exist anymore.

I see it as more of a 2 way street than that, this club has not always treated those players that have devoted themselves to us with the respect that they deserve. The fact those players love the club enough to want to stay or to return as some have done speaks volumes to me! Chris desperately wants to be here next year, he was trying to generate support to help that happen. He either spoke about it that week or not at all as after we were knocked out that story disappears.

If he is motivated and plays well n.....oooooo problem.
If moping then cc for him.
I the the Club also deserves an apology.

@momo_amp_medo it would be a bad move to pick him in cc , what do is pick him at #21 in the nrl squad, drop him to cc 24 hours before the game, the club is in the clear

Not sure if getting picked in the #21 counts towards his total NRL appearances?

Definitely another club that has started all of this. Hopefully WT keeps denying him a release every time he asks unless a deal is reached in our favour.

Perhaps, but the list includes too many seriously good footballers. Douehi should also be added to the list.

No, the list for every club contains good footballers.

Honestly, if we were relying on Adam Doueihi, Tatola, Blake Austin, Curtis Siro, Moses, Paseka it would still be a fairly average Tigers roster. I mean Junior Tatola, seriously, I've seen most Souths games 2019 and he's an alright footballer but no better IMO than Twal or Aloiai.

Tedesco, Taupau and JAC are really the only standout ones.
