Confirmed: Matterson released from Wests Tigers.

Stuff Parramatta. There's no player that they'd be willing to release that would be worth our while. If I were the club I'd say your options are playing for us or the Gold Coast and we'll take Brimson or Arrow as compensation.

I can't see a scenario where Matterson plays for the Eels and it's to our benefit.

I think we could come to an arrangement with Parra. All it would cost is a full buy out of his contract and 85% of the total revenues at their Leagues Club on the day of our home games for the duration of our stay at Bank West.

@Fraze23 What I don't understand, is how a club giving us money will help our cap problem? A player worth $600k in a direct swap, where we are still paying $425 next year and the other club is paying $600k, sure. But just cash... no good at all.

I’ve got it on good authority that Parra are very high on Sivo and will attempt to upgrade his deal ASAP - don’t think they’ll give him up

Only negative with the bloke apparently is that he smokes like a chimney, trying to get the guy to stop lol

I don’t want a outside back, we need more forwards if we wanna be anywhere near the top 8 next year

Junior Paulo or Nathan Brown - that’s the only ones I’d consider

Shaun Lane and Kane Evans had good seasons but would need more in return to let Matto go

Having read a recent interview with Arrow-to me he seems a bit flaky. Let's face it , his main claim to fame is that he is the best of a poor bunch that may be available.

Ryan Matterson met with the TheParraEels today. Early discussion. At least two other clubs chasing him. The Wests Tigers want either money or a player in return making negotiations tricky for any clubs.

Time to bring fan favourite and all round great guy Mitch Moses home.

Thoughts @Russell

I know you only want me to bite.

Slimy would never come back, and hopefully WT would have enough sense to never take a tanker back.

I gather you are from NSW. This why Origin was invented. He is absolute quality player with the right mentality. Anything less is a disservice to the guy.

Apart from sivo who would they let go?

I reckon their five eighth is someone we could build around. A half is worth x10 of any Sivo in my opnion.

We trade you Matterson for that 19 year old kiwi kid (or even Moses).

Oh wait the NRL don't have trades do they? SO there really isn't any contingencies for contractual stuff ups etc

Arrow is a gun. Auto-selection for Origin when fit. Round 2 this year he put in one of the all time great performances by a middle-forward. In 70 minutes he had 27 runs for 290m, 7 tackle breaks, 4 offloads, 1 line break.

He's equally as good as Matterson, though they are slightly different players. Had injury issues in 2019, but he's only 24 and is about to enter his prime.

Hey you blokes, I have been in Spain and Morocco for the past two weeks and thought you’d have sorted this whole Matterson thing out by now. Heading hope in a week or so, please have it sorted before my return. We don’t want money for Matto, just a gun replacement. Easy. Over to you.

The Eels are in a position to make an offer that isn’t contingent on shifting or swapping players and view Matterson as the ideal addition to a pack that will be bolstered by former Panther Regan Campbell-Gillard next season.

Didn't he leave Parramatta years ago due to some issue with Brad Arthur. Lol.

@WT2K Great to read Moses expert commentary on the Matterson situation. Surprised he didn't give himself a wrap for his performance in the finals.

"He’s getting flak from former teammates and things like that."

Good to see Moses and Robbie have settled their differences.

I have tried to (somewhat defend) Matterson and say wait and see...

But if it is correct he is back in Sydney, still has not explained himself, AND MET with Parramatta....then basically he is bailing as he thinks we are a second class rabble, just as Moses did.

In which case, he has lost me also. Disgraceful.
