Managers comes out and basically blames the Tigers ... Not a great move I would say as any deal we don't like we would decline just to piss them off now.. Also saying that will also put doubts in a potential player swap as the other player will say if you don't want to be there then I am not going either.. DOES NOT HELP them at all... Idiots,

@hsvjones
I don't think anything will help them. Ryan has a tanty, manager sees dollar signs and jumps. This does not look like a well thought out, coordinated approach. Read Money Grab

Tigers are in prime position with Matterson. Basically put himself on the trade block. He’s a talent with big value to another club. In demand and will garner a good return. It will play out November 1st depending on who we sign for 2021. His manager knows this they will wait.
If we sign Lomax, Brimson, Arrow or any other players it makes sense to move forward and get a swap done a year early. Otherwise he stays until a suitable release and replacement can be found.
350k won’t hurt us much as being bullied into a dumb move would .

An Orr managed player supposedly doesn’t want to break a contract for more money upgrade.

And pigs fly

Getting to the point now with reading that crap from his manager that I really don’t care how our 2020 season pans out, as long as Matterson gets screwed over in reserve grade for a couple of years...

Won’t happen mate. Clubs, fans, coaches all get screwed but the player never does. He’ll land somewhere for more money and will be rewarded for his petulant, selfish behaviour with an origin jersey. Worlds gone mad

Even if we put him in reserves, watch Freddy pick him for SOO from reserve grade just to make us look stupid!

@Tiger_Steve yeah I know mate... just really disappointing from a fan point of view. You give a bloke a leg up and they throw it in your face. Personally I don’t care where we end up on the ladder Aslong as the players put in and try for the fans, I’ve come to accept that we will never be a roosters etc... but pride in your work goes a long way with me... these blokes just care about money, back in the day when my old man played for the magpies they had jobs and played for the love of the game.... I know it’s big business now, but it’s just disappointing.

Won’t get an argument from me. Agree 100%. It’s a real shame

Yep, how many times have seen it go this way in the past.

Yep agree totally ..... sport generally leaves me disappointed with actions by some players. In this case I just can’t defend the player as to how he has allowed for this situation to play out. He has burned his bridges and now finds himself in rather difficult situation.

I was just rewatching some highlights and this caught my attention, I don’t know if this is common within league and that’s just the norm, but I found it a bit condescending how Matterson just launched at Taylor for dropping a ball. It seems like at that point he doesn’t respect his teammates and his ego was just blanketing him.

Didn't see it the same way. He could have been angry at himself for throwing a ball that wasn't on.

The latest events seem as though the management ‘Orr etc’ are getting frustrated with the tigers player trade demands. I believe the are trying to play the welfare card.
There interest is the player and their number one objective is to get him out of the tigers, I don’t think they care 1 iota how that impacts us as long as come November 1 his a free agent.

By being locked into a swap it limits their options for where Matterson can land.

Think this won’t be the end of this until Matterson is released.

You could be right. Who knows where this will end up? Poor, poor Ryan.

@Needaname Yes I'm sure they are going to try and play that card. Why in goodness hasn't someone at WT (like a Pascoe or Madge) called Orr and said no more dragging our name through the dirt, one more bad story and I promise you we will not let him go no matter what. We want a trade, better than Matterson, or we are keeping him. Now play nice, or don't bother playing.

This guy is really going to look back on these years of his life with some regret.

You can't treat people with such little respect, in such a selfish way without getting a considerable amount of it returned in kind. Yes, he'll end up with a lot of money but he won't have that many people to spend it with nor will he come out of this with much respect from those in his life currently. This is going to negatively impact his potential inclusion into rep teams. No one wants to play with or coach a diva.

If he hasn't already been told by those close to him to pull his head in, they need to. The only ways to stop entitlement are to remove it completely (won't happen here) or be shown that you shouldn't behave entitled in the first place. The world wants to slag off millenials but it's slime balls like Orr or Moses that encourage this behaviour that others then copy.

His football talent will ensure that the system will find a place for him despite how poorly it has been managed. We just have to hang tough and make sure that we are compensated adequately for his reluctance to see out his contract.

So Freddy’s motivation to win Origin next year is to pick players to make us look stupid? The victim mentally has reached new heights.
