Connor Watson

Well this time next year we will know if Brooks is a keeper.

A decent pack with size and mongrel, an experienced halves partner and a full off season under our best coach yet for Brooks.

Also, When we win more games than we lose inna season that's when the media will give us some slack, and only then.

Man, news ltd are really enjoying sticking the boot in…

Whilst I hate the way the article is written, it is a little confusing... Seems like we're spending some decent coin on brooks/lolo/Watson, only for one of them to miss out.

I couldn't care less if Ivan promised lolo a starting spot before he signed... That's not how a good footy team work. You EARN your spot, nothing is guaranteed.

Which is exactly the situation as Tui himself pointed to, with no guarantee, but an opportunity. He has a "pathway" with a start in the six this season and first grade spot next year his for the taking, but he has to "grab" it.

How about this, we move Suli into the 2nd row, (he's only get bigger, not faster)

1\. Watson
2\. Nofa
3\. Lolohea
4\. Milne
5\. Rona / Tupou (whoever gets on the bus)
6\. Reynolds
7\. Brooks
8\. Matulino
9\. Liddle
10\. Packer
11\. McQuuen
12\. Suli

West Tigers have a big following in Brisbane which in some ways challenges the Broncos control. Newscorp wants all Brisbane to follow the Broncos and part of the game is to diminish the West Tigers.

I know the talk about Lolohea getting shafted but it could be Brooks being the one left out ? Watson Reynolds in the halves, Lolohea at fullback ?

You just can't do that to the young fellow.
Might as well throw him on a scrap heap now.

"Watson has reportedly be guaranteed the fullback role after meeting the Tigers coach Ivan Cleary on Sunday. The deal trumped an offer from the Newcastle Knights."

That's an interesting perspective. I have always thought both Wests and the Tigers were 'battlers' teams, and so is WT. Trying to diminish WT in relation to the donkeys would only entrench the 'battlers' WT supporters. Just my impression.

X2 you can't just chuck the kid in there at this point in time, see how he and his body develops. He's only just getting used to first grade and probably ahead of time.

Seems to be regular at the moment and would be putting him in the backrow before a younger total novice in Suli

I wouldn't be putting Suli in the backrow yet either, its too soon. My comment has nothing to do with Suli. Time will tell on Marsters, but IMO he wont kick on.

As has been mentioned many times before, Brooks decisions at the pointy end of the field leave a lot to be desired. His short kicking game is atrocious, and no amount of forwards will fix that. His go-to play is a short, flat pass to his left. Usually to Lawrence . . . but teams have worked this out and it is fast becoming ineffective.
I hope he puts the work into improving his bag of tricks when we are 15m out with a tackle or 2 to go.
If not, I have a hunch about Tyson Gamble. I really hope he works hard in the off-season to put pressure on Brooks. In reality, all he'd have to do at training is a few grubbers that don't skip dead . . . a neat dummy and break the line . . . and a couple of tackles, and he'd be turning heads and raising eyebrows.
Brooks, Lolo, Reynolds, Gamble fighting it out for 2 positions. Gentlemen, start your engines !
