Brooks got what he deserved this year at the Dally Ms and some credit in my opinion goes directly to Ivan Cleary.
Best Defensive year I’ve seen in a long time.
Some wins we will never forget(the two storm games and the manly drubbing were my favourites).
Benji Marshall. Whether you wanted it to happen or not, it was good to see him back.
Corey Thompson, Esan Marsters, Luke Garner, Moses Mbye, Ryan Matterson, Josh Reynolds, Chris Lawrence and Brooks(hopefully re-signing)has left me with a lot more optimism leading into the future.
I’d give Ivan some credit for weeding out the anchors and sticking our team full of competitors.
If he goes he goes.
But if he is here for only 2 more years…....I feel good things will happen.
Agree.
I’d take a committed Cleary over, let’s say, Wayne Bennett.
But I’d take Wayne Bennett over a distracted Cleary.
Fair enough.
It’s funny for years we’ve had the label of a rebuilding club without any noticeable change.
I thought I saw a good deal of change this year.
Maybe Bennet or the equivalent could work.
I was hoping for someone long term though, not sure if he would be up for the long haul.
Can agree with pretty well all that you both have written. I still feel that we failed somewhat this season given the enormous squad and cap freedom this (rebuild) time around, which the last couple of coaches were not afforded. Stable ownership, board and management also have the club in a position that deserves results, yet real or imagined, WT coaching position is still under a cloud and it should not be.
