Corey Thompson is a gun

Theres probably quite a few more Corey Thompsons running around England, Ivans got a good eye for talent

We should probably re-visit the no talent thread at some point..

cause Corey's got talent…

Keep it up ..

He has certainly been impressive. Most of us probably thought he'd be behind our wingers form last year as well as Fonua. Right now I expect he is the first winger picked each week.
I'm sure the club will be looking to upgrade his contract sooner rather than later.
The great thing is, Corey himself doesn't seem too worried about the coin he is on.

Well the Roosters appear to be on the prowl for outside backs. The Chookpen Forum has a thread and mentions the depth at WTs including Nofo, Fonua and Milne in ISP.

Marsters is getting a lot of attention from other forums. Gamble mentioned on the Greenhouse Forum,.

His footwork at the line, safety at the back, finishing off tries. I hope we pay him his dues. It would be great to keep him.

We've got plenty of cap money left. Do we add a year to his deal and use this year's funds as key part of it?

If he's still going like he is around round 10, pascoe should be sitting down with him.

Our main focus will be holding onto Masters as he is off contract at the end of the season.

Corey still has another year after this season but I would like to see him upgraded off a minimum contract if he continues with his form.

Definitely a touch of class about Corey - that's something we've lacked in our back three for a long time.

Embodies everything Ivan wants in a player for WT.

Plays well above his weight and does everything with class.

Definitely deserves an upgrade to his contract as well earned.

I now happy to eat humble pie as I was a doubter at start of season. Glad to be proven wrong Corey.

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that the club has extended the contract of Corey Thompson.

The new deal will see Thompson remain with Wests Tigers until at least the end of the 2019 NRL season.

Thompson joined Wests Tigers this season after two years in the English Super League and has been a standout performer so far in 2018, scoring three tries in the opening four games.

Thompson said he was thrilled to be extending his stay at Wests Tigers.

“It was a pretty easy decision, I’ve loved my time here so far,” said Thompson.

“Ivan gave me the opportunity to come back here and prove myself and I think I’ve had a great month of footy to start the year off.

“My focus is now just to keep the same attitude I have and to make the team each week,” he said.

“Ever since day one I’ve leant so much off Ivan and all the other boys. I’m playing with confidence at the moment and that’s down to the coaching staff and what they’ve taught all of us.

“I feel like I’ve been here for a couple of years now with how well I’m settled into this club,” said Thompson.

Wests Tigers Head Coach Ivan Cleary said that Thompson’s new deal was a reward for his hard work.

“Corey has been impressive in how he’s committed himself to training and his efforts on the field since joining the club,” said Cleary. “His new contract is a great reward for his hard work and I look forward to seeing him continue to develop over the coming seasons.”

Wests Tigers CEO Justin Pascoe said that Thompson has been impressive both on and off the field.

“I’d like to commend Corey on how he’s settled into life at Wests Tigers and how he has bought into the direction that we are taking the club,” said Pascoe. “He’s an impressive young man who has quickly become a fan favourite and we all look forward to having him as a part of our club long into the future.”

Officially announced that he’s re-signed till the end of 2019\. Which makes me wonder why the club announced him for 2 years to begin with if he wasn’t signed for ‘19\. They did the same thing with Taylor at the end of 2016\. Announced him extending till the end of 2018, yet was apparently off contract at the end of last year. Not sure why the club does this 🤔
