We will have a vaccine next month. I have every faith in the good people working on this.

Surely a vaccine would need stringent testing before being allowed to be issued to people

Yes it would under current legal requirements.

I doubt it. It’s not that I don’t think the good people are doing their very best, it’s that creating a vaccine for Covid19 is really, really difficult. I think anything less than a year would be miraculous. Maybe by Jan/Feb 2021 there will be something.

Mike , we’ve had a couple of coronavirus outbreaks before COVID-19. Is it at all possible that we get quicker and more effective with our response, particularly considering Chinese scientists shared the genome sequence early January. Didn’t animal trials start during March? Which means human trials should have already commenced? I realise why we need to keep people isolating as well as the value of under promising, however, some of the information from various sources is not consistent, which raises questions in my mind.

Probably the NRL's best call ...Vlandy's ...love how he makes calls with authority , makes them quickly and gets them right

The trouble it is hard to attack outside the lab. Also good animal trials don’t always translate into good human trials. We haven’t got a vaccine for SARS and MERS. COVID19 is SARS-COV-2. MERS (MERS-Cov) and has been around since 2012, SARS (SARS-Cov) has been around longer since 2003. Just trying to be realistic. I hope it is sooner but past experience suggests not.

I wonder how many other players in the NRL who may be in Darius's shoes feel the same

I’m sure there is heaps. I know that if my employer tries to tell me to move away from my family for a few months I’d tell them to jog on. I don’t think it’s unreasonable for players to feel that way especially if they have young families.

I know a lot of people do work away from their families but that is a choice they made for their families not one that was forced into them.

Yes and many of those are FIFO's or are given special dispensation from employers

It isn't being forced onto them though? They don't have to go!

If that’s the case, there might not be enough players to make up a comp

I doubt it, most people will do what they need to, to continue getting paid atm!

I travel for work constantly. I don’t like it but I want the income it brings so I do it. Mate of mine goes away for 3-4 weeks at a time. He hates it but he bought a caravan with his last bonus.
Sometimes you have to do things you don’t like to have the lifestyle you aspire to. To be honest, I’m sick to death of hearing from these entitled footballers. Their life is a friggen dream. If they have to spend a month or two away from home - tough! Just do it so the game they derive a bloody good life from can stay on its feet.
Jesus I spent 5 years Living in a third world village to set myself up in life. And there are heaps of people who have done a hell of a lot harder stuff than me. These footballers need to grow a set and get over themselves. Spoilt brats some of them - young family or not!

A bit harsh Steve. We have never experienced life in a pandemic before, and no one is expected to travel for work at the moment - if anything they have been forbidden to travel. What ever position any player takes in regard to footy at the moment I think we should support, whether that be to play or not - without judgement.

I get where you are coming from. This is unique. But I just reckon some players want it their own way all the time. Gee, when it comes to Boyd (who has been very verbal in this) we remember how well he puts in when things don’t go his way. Also Smith - bloke owes everything to footy. Away for a few weeks - really?
Anyway, just my take on it. I can see your point of view as well.

Always good for a headline those two. I might be wrong but generally I think the majority of players will want the green light to go ahead despite what Darius and Cam think

Of course because he is grounded and has a pretty mature approach to life now (as far as I see it)
