What effect does anyone think this will have at grassroots. Stronger or weaker.
I hope it lifts input back at this level but can't see it happening
I think it will definately hurt junior and country football. Most of the clubs live hand to mouth and any disruption to games/income will hurt badly in the short term and to a lesser but still large extent long term.
Pub/club raffles and game bbqs are still a major source of their funds plus in Sydney many if not most junior football clubs do get financial support from the parent NRL club which helps
The only way I see them seeing a positive is if nrl goes bust and the fat is trimmed right back by a new controller. Dont know for sure but I have a feeling there's a lot of wasted money across the game
There has definately been a large amount of money wasted under Greenbergs administration the most obvious one being the donation of a 15k ring to Smiths wife.Undoubtedly there have been even worse decisions than that which have been swept under the carpet. The NRL seems to be top heavy with administrators who are only in it for themselves and are very similar to our useless politicians. The referees have appeared to have massive bias and nepotism in the recent past which is hopefully changing.
When you have a badly infected wound you need to take drastic measures and this crisis may just bring that about
