Coronavirus Outbreak

How have your friends, family and co-workers dealt mentally with covid-19?

I'm really interested to hear about it.

Most people I know have been fine, with a few have (and continue to) really struggled.

A couple of family members who are extreme extroverts have been sucked deep into the world of conspiracy theories as a way of making sense of it.

Some of the staff I manage have been holed up since March/April and had complete meltdowns before the Christmas break at the prospect of returning to the office next week.

I wouldn't be surprised to see either empty desks or resignation letters.

Experiences?

Have one workmate who's milking the Covid Sickies to the Max... He does have a young bub at home to be fair but he must've had 8 tests and time off since march.

If I had a test every time I had a symptom I'd be there every week

Yeah the only time I got tested was when I spent about 5 hours up the hospital waiting for results from Xrays on wrist

NSW has done very well both in managing outbreaks while keeping the economy open, busineses operating and people in employment.

There is always the possibility of a leak from quarantine. It is the manner in which you respond that ultimately counts.

Taking the lion share of overseas travellers is one issue. The other is the 'hot loads' of overseas travellers from Covid infected destinations.

I can't understand why it isn't compulsory to be tested and Covid free before these overseas passengers are allowed on a plane.

I can’t understand why we don’t use the rapid 15 min covid test for all incoming passengers..those positive go into a stricter quarantine. they use it in the EU...also we should base all overseas incoming passengers at manus island for 14 days...that would provide 100% assurance of no accidental community transmission.

It's used in Ireland - why not here?

Can't believe the madness of going ahead with the Sydney Test

You have TWO clusters and you want to go ahead with a game of cricket

Wasn't someone trying to convince me Gladys wasn't a moron

The moron has spoken ...again

Senseless decision I agree... Anyone would think the NRL are running the state with the inconsistency in decisions

The rapid test is a trade off between speed and accuracy. Too many false negatives for my liking.

I think the Test should go ahead. It's pretty close to panic stations now but I'd still go ahead with it.

I know that Qld premier isn't a moron in Queensland but that is because Queensland is full of them.

This morning they limited the number of visitors for NYE to 5 per household, cancelling lots of people's NYE plans in the process yet let's allow the cricket to go ahead?

Gladys seems to be having a bet each way. Giving people advice, but doing very little to prevent people that do not follow it. Sydney is heading towards a Melbourne type spread and our leaders seem to not be prepared to act early to prevent it.

There are at least some of the passengers being vetted, with some then refused boarding on the Qantas repatriation flights.

Each test is merely a snapshot of that time, so many would still develop into a positive case later, but every case not allowed to get to our shores the better.

Probably the most panic in Wollongong since it all started...police choppers everywhere

There was lines around the corner at warilla and the gong . I think because of the high Greek population down here , and the fact the lady who was positive went to like 2churches and also Wollongong central and Figtree during the Chrissy build up. Basically she could have infected the whole of the Illawarra just by being at those 4 places , considering the amount of traffic .

Around figtree just past west Wollongong too...a simple 5 minute commute took me about 50 minutes
