Pretty big jump in numbers in NSW today

Not good .....

Ill get all nerdy here, but the numbers arent big. If you are looking at a virus spread the risk is one pass it on to two, who pass it onto two and th enumbers go 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128 etc. Exponential growth which is exactly what happened a year ago. The numbers are not growing exponentially, it is linear growth and is less likely to escalate as a result. If it gets out in the wild and starts to grow exponentially, then we are back in a bad place.

but it is growing linearly whilst we are under restrictions. Surely, exponential growth would likely occur if the lockdown ends prematurely?

1000% correct although i think that ship has sailed.

Ivermectin (a drug which the clinical evidence shows is not statistically effective) is still available to give to the whole world whilst they wait for the vaccine, at almost zero risk.....

Are you a medical professional?

I am a science professional. Your point?

What discipline if you don't mind me asking? It's not to formulate a smartarse remark or anything, genuinely curious.

Biology...I have 2 science degrees (AQF Level 8 ) and I am a professional consultant in a science(based) field. Part of my work and a requirement for my ongoing professional development is to read, understand and summarise scientific literature.

I am NOT a medical doctor and Im not big noting myself, but Demps asked and I am qualified to have an opinion of the science surrounding this.

Yeah fair enough, I was curious to see what field is all. Was thinking about going to uni a while back and looking at medical science but it's just too hard to do now. That, and I earn more than what they earn anyway so it's not really worth the HECS debt.

Im not in medicine, but I finished my highest degree 2 years ago and its paying off but I am in a very niche sector. That is the secret IMO.

That's basically what I've done, I am in a niche part of my sector also. Not many do what I do.

And what do you do young fella?

Supposedly thousands at Bondi and Centennial Park .....people are too stupid and never learn

The more the lockdowns and the longer the lockdowns people won't care people these days get bored very easy they need instant gratification they are adults let them enjoy the sunshine

With work today I have been from Parramatta to the shire then North Sydney people out and about everywhere and now going home to Austinmer

I've had my 1st AZ jab and am not really looking forward to having a 2nd jab...Pfizer maybe, but not AZ.
How do we obtain Ivermectin (a drug which the clinical evidence shows is not statistically effective)?

Reading between the lines of Scomo’s latest comments they’re pretty well what I anticipated. They’ll basically force everyone to get the jab.

Want to go on holidays? Get the jab first
Want to go to the pub? Get the jab first
Want to be allowed to visit your mates? Get the jab first
Want to keep your job? Sorry mate, you’ll need a jab for that.

A mate of mine works for a major trucking company and is hearing that all workers and subcontractors for Woolworths and Coles are going to be forced to choose between their jobs and the jab. He’s furious and I don’t blame him.

I honestly cannot believe people trying to sell these supposed vaccines and pushing their opinions like it’s proven to work miracles against covid. The mere fact our government is pushing a rushed drug that has proven side-affects like some sort of cure to our problems because it’s the best we’ve got is madness.

IT’S IN TRIAL - MEANING YOU’RE THE TRIAL. You’re literally guinea pigs in the testing arena to drugs that have no scientific proof to be completely safe, or work for that matter.

Australia has every capability to hold out until a proven and tested vaccine is available but the government is too weak to make the tough decisions for the greater good and is selling this idea of a near normal life if you take the lab rat drugs they’re telling you too.

It’s proper mental.

I literally cannot have either at the moment.

One causes clotting complications (I take anticoagulants,) and the other is reported to cause heart infections.

Wow did I stumble upon the politics thread? Or the tin hat thread??

BTW, the clotting that can be attributed to the AZ is not the same as clotting issues that people such as members of my family take blood thinners to deal with.
It's been stated by physicians that if you are on thinners it does not make you more susceptible to clotting... and, it has always been speculated that booster immunization will be required annually for Covid. To deal with variants.
Also has been stated that Covids evolve very slowly and immunizations can be effective to a high percentage for long periods.
I encourage everyone to only take on board the advice that is published by the government health websites or comes directly from the mouths of people involved in these organisations, not social media - which includes this forum.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to my 2nd AZ jab in around a month. Right now I'm off to read about footy somewhere else, be healthy and enjoy the rest of the weekend NRL!

After reading @Tiger5150 really sensible posts re 'signing suggestions etc' yesterday, then reading his posts on this thread, I've re thunk my thinking re Covid... @barra .
I had my 1st AZ jab late May.
On a % scale I reckon my life satisfaction so far would be approx 30% [boohoohoo 😢 I hear you say ].
I'm 74 yoa 😱lder_man: .
I'm just about to purchase a VW Transit 4 Motion to have it converted to a camper van.
Due to Covid I may have to wait 12 months for delivery of my VW.
Until I take delivery I will be living in a tent [Oh boohoohoo 😢 I hear again]
When I eventually take delivery I will be doing a lap of the block, by myself, as my wife isn't interested, so it will be my forever permanent home.
Travelling Ozzzzzzz will be the highlight of my life and I dont want to fall of the perch before I have achieved that.
I currently live in a small town in the Upper Hunter, so not many people, and I dont go into Taree/Forster very often to shop.
My point is>>>I now feel more confident in staying alive by being careful, wearing a mask and hand washing etc. than having my 2nd jab, as it would be just my luck to get a serious side effect from the 2nd vax, and there goes my dream.

I cant get over what I just heard Scomo announce.

From a date in the near future, they will no longer track or report COVID case numbers. It will be just like the Flu and they will treat it like the flu.

What the hell? We have 8% fully vaccinated. What the hell has changed?

UK is doing the same as well.
Singapore also.

It actually makes sense there, they 60-70 vax rates and at some stage they do have to go on like normal.

I'll tell you what doesnt make sense. In the UK, they have 85% of the population at least partially vaccinated, 65% fully. 150K vaccinated a day. With 85% vaccinated, they are getting 28K new cases A DAY! 150K over the last week which is up by 72%. 22 deaths per day which is up 11%. Why are all these going up with 85% vaccination.

https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/

Now they are announcing that they arent going to record or report case numbers and treat it like the flu. Its almost like the vaccines arent working like they expected and arent keen on proving it?

under 50% - just

My elder Brother and Sister In Law who are both just on 80 yoa are getting their 2nd jab in a couple of weeks. I'll have to see how they go.

I’ve had Pfizer dose 1 - no problems and I’ve had some anaphylaxis issues in the past.
To say it’s “untested” is inaccurate. Maybe “undertested” compared to usual standards. I’m prepared to rely on the totality of experts in the field and the field results thus far.
