I know that taking the right actions is hard but it's interesting how poorly the western world is handling this compared to Asian countries.

Everyone is doing something different…this just highlights we have no experience with this scale of illness and also highlights how dangerous the actions of the CCP were in trying to hide it as we were all unprepared.

Like I said western countries aren't handling this well either. They appear to me (and others) to be handling this basically like incompetent fools.

I think it's easy to blame China and there is some truth in that but western countries don't seem to be getting the situation at all.

I also wanted to state that I don't think that there is one approach to handle this situation. Taiwan is handling this differently to Singapore but they have both so far done a much better job than western nations. I think China has handled this a lot better than western nations.

I'm no Trump, who is a convicted Rapist and Felon hater either but this situation has shown how incompetent the guy is. In these situations you can't have an ignorant fool in charge.

If this spreads in Africa there will probably be carnage.

It's good. We need to take precautions but the irrational, ignorant, uneducated and stupid reactions of a vast number of people in society are pretty bad. We've had a couple of posters on this thread display these behavior traits and it's pretty poor.

Sports all over the world are being shut down that probably didn't need to be if the western world was better managed. It sucks.

We do have to deal with this situation now and do our best and that includes fair criticism of China and the rest of the world.

The only thing is we shouldn't belittle this virus. Sure it's not that bad and most people will be okay but we need to stop this so that we minimize people at risk contracting this disease.

I think it'll all pass in a year or two and hopefully the panic stops much sooner than that.

My criticism of the Chinese regime, and not their people is just as fair and individually protected as me calling out Corey’s poor display on the weekend?

Is it the number one predicted of his future games + whether he gels as the season progresses? Probably not...

China itself has MUCH form in all of the areas I’ve personally mentioned and it is also, in my own humble opinion - not yours (but seemingly most other posters here)- china’s responsibility to foot the bill as I stated in my very first post here.

I’ll leave it here please don’t spray any further misinformation in my directions or any of the ‘Australian’ flock on here, FYI, I would wager I’ve thousands more Asian friends than you. Even they recognise how poorly they’ve performed in regards to most of evolution (the planet) in containing or even helping with this virus.

I also know they’ve been the first to socially isolate and disconnect over here as well and that being the one practice I could agree with under the circumstances? Nobody belittled this virus.

That is right. We are lucky in a lot of ways. This virus isn't that bad. I don't want to belittle the virus either but it could be a lot worse.

The people of China should be separated from the Chinese regime in these discussions.

The Chinese people themselves have nothing to do with this, but the Chinese government should be slammed for trying to keep a lid on their doctors during the initial outbreak. Given the carnage this has and will cause, people have every right to be angry about it.

It was incredibly irresponsible of them if nothing else and now the rest of us have to pay the bill.

To add: People calling for "solidarity" need to realise it goes both ways. Where is the Chinese government sense of solidarity in hiding this virus and essentially exporting to the world costing trillions upon trillions of dollars. We should call out unscrupulous governments just as quickly as we call out racism imho.

My wife is Chinese and I know the Chinese community. They are lovely people. They push in and fight for stuff and are fixated with making money not because they are rude but because, in China, if they aren’t like that they don’t survive. Get past that and you will not find a more gentle hospitable race of people.

But the Chinese government has Them all brainwashed. They are incredibly controlling and demanding. They rule through might and misinformation.

This is a subjective opinion so don't go crazy but I don't see China as being that bad excluding the fact that it's probably bred via wet markets in China.

Look at Europe. They've stuffed this up. Same as the USA.

You are incorrect in relation to the vital information they weren't given. This is not new although it appears to be to us. We've just been blind to what can happen in a highly coupled world. I said earlier Bill Gates has been crying out about this for years and we've had other outbreaks.

But what do I know? Never lived in China.

A lovely girl who reports to me is from China. She is brilliant. Just out of uni and in a good job and as good or better than any of her peers when it comes to work.

She visited China over Christmas holidays and came back prior to the noise about this. I'm pretty confident she doesn't have it. Her parents have been in lockdown for a long time. The schools have been locked down. Her dad is a teacher and is now preparing to go back to work.

There have been lots of really positive actions China has taken. I'm not stating they are perfect by any means. I'm just stating compared to the western world they've handled this I think reasonably well.

I'll tell you another thing they did. They put all sorts of medical stuff that you'd go and see a doctor over on line. So if you want to renew a script you could get it on-line. They have the ability to take massive action quickly. They put lockdowns in place. Maybe they weren't perfectly transparent but the more I read and learn about the situation the more I see them handling this much better than the western world.

Mate, that’s a fair enough point, and well intentioned enough so as not to rub the wrong way. You’re probably dead right and the Chinese govt. will be our biggest allies in fighting these kinds of things going forward (or at least that’s my hope) but given what’s being reported and a lot of what’s actually been verified is that they’ve again stuffed this up and it’s not just the people of China suffering this time.
