Numbers are down two days in a row.... Something a bit positive hopefully the trend continues

The concerning number is the (minimum) 50 cases who were infectious out and about in the community, could be many more weeks of frustration for you guys.

Meanwhile QLD not wanting to be left out had 16 new cases tied to the latest outbreak.

I'm guess Qld is still in lockdown?

Until 16:00 on Sunday at a minimum, so I don't have to agonise over whether I go to the Tigers/Bulldogs game up at Redcliffe or not.

I'm looking at my crystal ball and thinking it'll be another week after that at least.

That's the annoying number which is not going down and will extend this damn lockdown out further. I'm just hopeful the general public are smart enough to get the jab and help protect themselves from the effect of COVID if they do contract it. A friend of mine in the US just got out of hospital after spending two months in there bed ridden from COVID. He's knackered after walking out to his mail box right now.

Vaccination is really only our way out atm.

Yep. It's the only way out of it for the whole world and we aren't unique.

You'll get there with the lockdown but it's going to take some time and more frustration. Even as an outsider the 'big' Victorian lockdown of 2020 (113 days IIRC?) was like watching the slowest of slow motion car crashes. Any change in input (lockdown conditions) will take a good two weeks to see a change.

The 'positive' aspect for NSW is at least the case numbers haven't spiked from 200+ to 500+ to 1000+ cases per day. You might get out of this by September yet.

(Fingers crossed for you all).

I don't think we have enough compliance to drive the numbers back down. I think we can keep the numbers relatively flat but worry about our ability to push them down.

The number of cases out in the community while infectious (ie not already in isolation) is the key. I thought that number was slowly coming down but I didn’t see today’s figures. We need to get that to zero and then the over all case numbers will start to fall.

But yeah vaccinations is probably the only way.

There is always going to some non-compliance for a myriad of reasons, but for mine there still needs to be a greater common good approach.

I am not against particular targeted measures based on geography and/or demographics, but think the lack of an across the board mask mandate here has been a huge failure. Everyone has a mask and it is a statement.

Agreed. Even prior to our (QLD) latest outbreak we still had a mask mandate in place for any public place (was due to be eased the day after the first case popped up).

Also the absence of proper financial support at the start of the lockdown led to the inevitable - people deeming their own job as 'essential' as it's essential for them to pay their bills and feed their family. I can't really harbour ill-will to the people in those circumstances - it's a massive failure of leadership given the costs on ongoing lockdowns.

I'm not sure it's just about compliance. I don't believe we can manage the delta variant going forward. I think it's getting out no matter what.

No you are definitely right with that as well.

I can't blame the people going to work because they have too. I can't blame the government completely either. They should have locked down much more quickly but that is easy with hindsight. I also think people simply haven't locked down the way they should have.

I think the big problem is that this variant is so contagious.

I think it's going to take vaccines plus actions like wearing masks in higher risk environments but I think that is going to be world wide.

day 2 of the week where there was a potential to hit 500+ and even 1k new infections per day according to some. i'm more worried that the stagnant numbers the last few days will see people taking an even more lax response and creating a second wave

Sorry, one other thing is that it makes it bloody hard to focus and concentrate on your thoughts when i feel like that this team of friends are just waiting and going attack altogether again, which makes me feel very reluctant to make a post.

You are posting information that goes against general consensus, you have to expect some pushback on the information you post. I have asked for the squabbling to stop and at this point you are the only person keeping this going. I am the sick of the "he said this" childish response to be people disagreeing with your argument.

The information you posted wasn't factual and you have been told that by a number of people, in fact I thought most people were fairly restrained in their replies. Your responses are why it is still derailing the thread 24 hours later and it is time for that to stop.

Your certainly correct that it's against the general consensus "not my views, but, just to even ask people what they thought of Dr Malone's views "
**I certainly want to stop talking about it**, and that's why i was asking for help from you, to stop the relentless comments directed at me.

You clearly don't want to engage in relation to the facts/the data/the science/any sort of logical discussion so if you don't have anything to say why bother with all the whining.

Instead of whining why not state your position.

I'll also state that ages ago I clearly stated that one persons opinions don't really matter. The science matters. You keep referring to your special doctor but your special doctor is irrelevant. Give me data and facts and science. If you don't have that then you should probably just run away.

My guess is you will either keep whining or go away. You won't provide any facts or data to back up your position.

Did you read the leaked CDC report that I provided a link too on here ? I'm interested if you are interested in the latest up to data that is available coming from America. It might help you become better informed on this topic. If you didn't read it why not ?
