Dubbo is going into lockdown from 1pm

Dubbo is a major centre that services a huge area of western NSW - if there has been any significant transmission in Dubbo it will very likely be popping up in smaller towns all over western NSW. All because some idiots in Sydney wouldn't stay home.

like that idiot who went to Byron with his kids even though his wife was positive what a peanut

This is what annoys me, the ramifications for what this clown has done is huge, yet the penalty for what can be applied to him is nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

it's a joke and apparently he is not cooperating with police and nsw health

Mmk...

Likely for some Newcastle/Hunter lockdowns to be extended today, allegedly.

I think once summer hits, it's going to be extremely hard to keep people inside and not going to the beach.

Should be a rush to get this sorted as best they can before summer, IMO.

The cutoff points for the Hunter lockdowns were weird, ending at Muswellbrook and not including Aberdeen or Scone was a mistake and I would expect that to be extended.

Yeah, pretty weird...
I'm reading they'll extend lockdowns 2 weeks.
Likely, later today.

Feel sorry for everyone impacted, across the country.

Will be announced at 11 mate

Indeed.

I'll put on that Covid-19 channel on Foxtel and see what they have to say.

Hope you're holding up well Cochise.

Finding it tough, 7 weeks in. Its really hard for my daughter, it is getting to her and she was begging me last night to let her go to school for just one day. She is 8 and hasn't played with another kid for 7 weeks, it really is a little heart breaking to see the negative impact it is having on her.

My 10 yo son is in heaven. He wakes up about 9, has breakfast and watches some TV and then does his work. It's typically over in an hour or two and then it's Playstation or TV.

Reckon we are heading to 500 plus cases a day by next Friday the 20th unless some reasonable change is made, and interested in others thoughts?

It's so frustrating seeing the impact of these types of actions and it's almost a joke to these people.

Imagine being in America where these attitudes are rife.

that was forecasted by some i think it was last week, and they said if it hits the 500 for 3 days then the lock down would be extended by at least another month

344 new cases, 2 more deaths in NSW, neither person vaccinated. Regional NSW - far north looking ok, but the Hunter Region had new cases identified. 2 cases in Dubbo.

Why can't people do the right thing?

Always a few bad eggs...

Hopefully we hit those vaccination targets.
I'm booking in when I'm back at work.

Seem fairly resigned to vaccination being the only way out.

Its frustrating and has got me very angry at the clowns running these
nursing homes as they cant get it through their head that we are going
through a PAMDEMIC. Yet they still want to have christmas in July parties
and the recent one a welcome back party for our olympics team.
Both are now in danger with covid cases.

And no mandatory vaccinations to staff.

Thats right. These people are front line workers it should be mandatory for them to get vaccinated.
I cant believe it.

You can still pass it on being vacinated. It's nice you care about their health tho

Less chance of transmission tho.

they seem pretty optimistic, especially if the new infection rate starts to slow and drop off, people will get complacent and think its over and not book in, or if they think there will be a financial or other benefit awarded for getting vaxxed, they will hold off for it if they are on the fence

I wish all those businesses owners in Byron Bay that have lost money due to that ignorant guy from Rose Bay that traveled there with Covid, would take a class action against him, even if he lost his posh Rose Bay home.

**Parliament passes bill on tax-free COVID-19 support payments**

COVID-19 support payments to individuals and businesses will now be tax-free after a new bill was passed by both houses on Monday.

Under the new law, COVID-19 disaster payments dating back to its introduction on 3 June will now be non-assessable non-exempt income.

Non-assessable, non-exempt income is income that you do not assess and you don't pay tax on.

The bigger question for mine is how were these carloads of people allowed to drive up past the Hawkesbury River to seed the virus in so many areas and all the way up there.

Totally agree, there is a police roadblock at Lithgow but they can’t physically stop and check every car as there are way too many using the highway.
Plus there are other routes that you can take to bypass the roadblock, so it’s only a token gesture.

I agree honestly the way Gladdy talks each day does not give us any positivity moving forward .. all other LGA’s are fully locked down all Labor seats the Penrith LGA is a liberal seat (swinging seat) so they are cherry picked per suburb, so why are other suburbs in other locked down areas with no COVID cases still locked down ?
The lock down is not working looks like Burwood and the inner west LGA’s to be locked down later this week , all the talk spewed out by the government is get vaccinated that tells me it’s out of control and the only way to stop it is herd immunity .
I think the beast is out of the bottle get vaccinated and practise safe habits we live now as Dr Chant has recommended treat every person you come across as having COVID !
I support your concerns fully !

i read it was a loophole to look at a property they wanted to purchase

A good job for the army to be involved in the checks, with only a pair or so of police officers necessary for actual enforcement.

Police have portable camera units that surely with programming can sort these problems out, with basically instant access to out of area vehicles information that can then be resolved virtually immediately. They have carried such out for years for licensing and registration purposes.
