Just wondering is every ones work site or office space is as divided as myn? Half of us believe in vaccines and the others believe it’s all a Bunch of nonsense and that the government are doing a terrible job I’ve got my vaccine booked in next week

Funny view that your colleagues have. Government doing a bad job, yet they won't step up and do their bit.

Yes it’s very frustrating to listen to at lunch time. to be honest with you I blame social media keeps feeding them this nonsense because it keeps them engaged and starting at there phones

Even worse is people saying it's nothing worse then influenza and the Flu has killed more then COVID.

The disinformation is disgusting. It kills me. We need to discuss the same facts.

Re turn around no chance, in 2 weeks at this rate nsw will have over 1000 cases a day regardless of the vaccine. Even if they slow the cases down if they open up at 80% they can’t police those who haven’t been vaxed at all. The numbers are guaranteed to blow out its a reality, restrictions are going to be around for ages & just wait for the next mutation to form in the next 6-12mths.

There is no way I am expecting this to turn around in 2 weeks. I'm talking months. I'm interested in how it plays out.

I'm feeling more confident now. The only issue is what is the success criteria. I've stated previously how the UK with 100 deaths per day but a functioning health system is considered a success.

The way I see it there is one big tool to handle this situation and it's vaccination. I don't see anything else working anywhere near as well. We are now above 50% first dose vaccinated but people are getting vaccinated. I reckon if we get to 80% we will be kings of the world.

I think people underestimate how big Australia is and the impacts this will have to remote/rural and island communities - the UK didn’t have those issues.

Alot of the country folk will be to tough and late for them to seek help because of their culture as well.

It’s not a few months and once it gets out of hand in those areas its a very long damage and burn to come close to some recovery if at all.

Keep an eye out boys

I think it could get really bad unless we get vaccination rates up. The thing is we've kept it at bay for so long and therefore we don't have much immunity developed from people getting infected.

I agree with your points but you have to put it into the big picture. The big picture is we can't stop it.

To all those members living in the 12 LGAs, good morning, hang tough and hopefully this will be over quickly. Treat your family to a big homecooked breakfast this morning!

I’m not denying the big picture now, it’s gone past a point. My concern is if Sydney hits a 80% figure and the rest of the state & other states rural/remote/regional areas don’t and Gladys opens up. Some regional areas have lived in a bubble through all of covid - most of QLD, TAS and WA have as well. In the bubble they thinm wow its bad in the city lucky we are out here. They don’t think there is any chance they will get it as such they aren’t on the front foot to getting vaccinated (highlighted clearly on the vaccination maps).

A big chunk of our food supplies come from these areas. Gladys is making national decisions based on Sydney.

End of the day whats done is done, can’t change it.

My ask to Gladys would be focus state wide and also work country wide to ensure everyone is at the same stage & when making promises of relaxing restrictions don’t focus on a % focus on numbers infected and hospitalized numbers per region instead and then make a call.

Im in lockdown in a regional area I cant work due to the premises being lockdown...I had to apply for the disaster relief because my income was cut off from the start of the lockdown...it was granted to me and money was put in my bank....
Someone said "you know its tax payers money that support these people that ""WONT WORK""...and I said get your head out of your arse and listen to what I just said..I have been FORCED out of work to comply with the Govts Covid restrictions and beside that I have worked for 47 years and paid tax each and evey year of that time...all in all I have subsidised myself over the years so when this shit happens I dont feel bad to ask for help...

SOME PEOPLE HAVE LITTLE OR NO IDEA WHAT ITS LIKE TO STRUGGLE AND THERE ARE PLENTY OF US...

Yeah mate, don't listen to that rubbish, I am in the same situation. I would much rather be at work but only have 1 days work at the moment in a business that has lost 95% of its income.

Everyone one at my work is getting vaccinated with no fuss.

Yep and good luck to them....as far as I know we are still a country that has choices...vax or unvaxed ,,,we are still people who should make a choice for themselves and their families without outside peer pressure...

I wish people would make the choice on what is better for the community, but you are right that it is their choice.

@Mighty_Tiger I get what you are stating but these lockdowns are just causing too many issues. It's an untenable way forward.

I know everyone focuses on Gladys but to me this is nonsense. She is listening to a team of advisers and they make decisions together. Look at Ink's post above. It's a public health order via Dr Chant. Health are the ones implementing these measures.

If anything I think it's pretty clear that Dr Chant representing Health are the ones pushing the whole situation now. I work for a big company and manage projects. My mate is a General Manger who manages a massive IT portfolio. The interesting point is that in these roles you are in a lot of ways just a facilitator. I view Gladys this way now. You don't make decisions. You leave that to the experts.

On top of that we've paid the Doherty institute to provide policy guidelines on how to manage this situation. This isn't Gladys coming up with her own ideas on what to do.

The Doherty report doesn't consider specific rural situations. To be fair the NSW government are pushing vaccinations into Indigenous communities.

This is why lockdowns can't continue. I have mates that have small businesses and they are getting flogged.

There is also the issue in relation to the poor people copping it more in this situation than the rich. On top of that the poor tend to be minority communities.

I work for a big company. I'm on leave and getting paid. I've never had to turn up to work during the pandemic. I just work from home.

The whole situation is a disaster.

For those interested and around the Penrith area, a mate of mine was just able to book in for a covid vax (Pfizer) at the Penrith Family Medical Practice on High Street. He just booked in for Tuesday, so if you are looking for the jab try giving them a call.

There have been some big data releases over the past couple of days. I'm assuming these are mostly focused on the Delta strain as it's the dominant strain.

The data remains basically the same:-

1. Significant reductions in infections for vaccinated.
2. Significant reductions in serious illness including death for the vaccinated.

aaahh the good old days when police were feared, not bashed by scum that dont like being civil,

The 21 squad came knocking watch out … all the fools deliberately braking the health law advise would be soughted in a couple of days . They were a feared group of men .

No phone books anymore...
What do they use these days?

Feather dusters, the fluffy end!

Interestingly with the data that has been provided there has been some analysis of Pfizer versus AZ.

The big picture remains the same in that the efectiveness of both vaccines is very very similar.

I'll add a slight bit of information to this picture but it's not worth focusing on in relation to getting vaccinated. The Pfizer vaccine appears to have a better initial rate of effectiveness but this decreases over time whereas the AZ vaccine appears to have a lower initial rate of effectiveness but this increases over time. There could be more to this picture because this could be due to the time period between your first and second dose.

Interestingly Dr Chant mentioned the initial dosing time frame in the press conference yesterday. She wants everyone double dosed even though there is a possibility this leads to a decrease in effectiveness over time. She stated that this will be mitigated against via booster shots.

It's a balance issue. Either open small business and risk the virus going out of control or clamp down on the virus as quickly as possible.

Seems like the "peaceful" protest is on today and apparently the government has no right to stop it according to some people.

I don't agree with the fines ...impound their cars for 12 months instead ...that'll fix them
