Today the Premier said, No statewide lockdowns '**ever again'** once NSW is **80** per cent vaccinated? Now i'm not sure how to accept her promise, because if we are following the path of other countries who are well advanced than us in the vaccine rollout, such as Israel,
Israel said they are upping the vaccine ante, pressing citizens to get Covid-19 **booster** shots and saying those **who don’t** will face **restrictions** on traveling, dining out and other activities,

So, while the Premiers promise may be true the posibility after this 80% is that there will still be many people under restrictions, and that there will again be many questions asked and discussions raised as to why these people haven't received their third jab?.

The Premier also stated that there will be restrictions for unvaccinated people.

What about when we get to receiving the booster shots, do you think those people will be put under restrictions if they haven't got the booster after a certain time?

Depends what is happening with covid in the community but I would think yes.

If there is restrictions for unvaxed people...I certainly hope that exemptions will apply....

As you are aware so do i

NSW records 1,533 new COVID-19 cases, four deaths as total infections in Wilcannia near 100

I couldn't paste that link properly it's from the ABC so it's freely available, anyway not looking to stir things up or anything and have no agenda or use social media and only use YouTube for old Maggie's games really lol but yes 4 unvaccinated deaths and 130 odd unvaccinated in ICU.

But also sadly 7 fully vaccinated in ICU so no I wasn't dribbling as some were to say. When I mentioned nearly everyday it was because the last 2 weeks I've probably read 200 plus articles and was picking up snippets from different sources.

But what concerned me most last night was that key information is dribbling out from the government and not making mainstream news. The following link I found but yet could not find it in mainstream media and is extremely concerning.

Another 2 AZ deaths in their 50s sadly. No wonder the the government siphoned news like that from the media because since they don't have adequate vaccine choices they're pushing for under 60s to get vaccinated with AZ unlike any other developed nations except for the UK who invented it so not real good for their re election chances.
https://www.tga.gov.au/periodic/covid-19-vaccine-weekly-safety-report-02-09-2021
They probably have an agenda.

I don't disagree that AZ is not the recommend vaccine here for <60's for valid reasons, but because our government stuffed up procurement and rollout we have little choice now than to balance the risk with the benefits in NSW and probably Victoria, even if it is also the inferior product as well.

Was interesting to read the Thai health department stating that they are seeing good results from the 1.5 million administered with a combination of Sinovax and a follow up AZ dose that allows a much shorter time between shots. They are also mixing Sinovax with the Moderna according to a friend who had the first this week is booked for the Moderna shot a month later.

The mixing of vaccines was very positive. This is what we want to see more of.

One other thing which I thought of early on was Russia's Sputnik vaccine.as well. Lancelot done a good study and it seems to be safe and as effective as the others where used (especially in Argentina which has a good health system) and even more importantly I believe correct me if I'm wrong is made using a technology which can be applied here at CSL meaning we could have produced our own sooner. I know it was mentioned early on by government medics that they didn't know whether it was safe but in my view we could have at least tested it ourselves with our own scientists and bought it under license, but it sadly probably wasn't even considered for political reasons .

Also would have been good to see those testing kit (immediate pct test kit I think) been used in all health care settings, nursing homes etc. Where my brother is stranded OS they use them in routinely daily in simple office settings. Imagine somthing simple like this how many lives could have saved.

Yup my mate got the sputnik few months ago. Says things are pretty normal over there in st Petersburg but there’s been a rise of delta

I don't have a problem with that - the majority of the population is doing the right thing. In many ways if there are restrictions for the unvaccinated, then it should be for their own protection given the additional risk they carry by not getting the jab.

Yeah mate I agree, I actually want to protect people who for various reasons, medical for example, cannot have the jab. I want these people to be able to participate fully in society and the unvaccinated in the community put these people at risk.

The unvaccinated (those without genuine medical reasons) will see it as discrimination no doubt, but when you look at the stats of vaccinated vs unvaccinated dying, it's a no brainer. So it stands to reason the govt should make an effort to keep the unvaccinated as safe as possible - if that means you can't go to crowded events where the likelihood of transmission is higher - well that's a price the unvaccinated should pay for their own protection.

I know they say that children are generally less affected, but to hear that 3 NSW youngsters are in ICU and two of them ventilated is terrible.

100% but some people will hear that and still say Covid only affects the weak and elderly.

So according to NSW own statistics the hospitalisation rate in this current outbreak is 11%. Any wonder the health system is under such strain.

50% 5G active as of 10am this morning.

When can I pick up FoxSports?

Would be good if it did that, as very painful paying at least $25/month to be able to watch our team come 13th.

Story is not that straightforward. NSW Health reporting in the Weekly Surveillance that cases in hospital was 1416 on the 21/08/2021 but the cases in hospital yesterday was 1023. Cases obviously come in and out.

As of yesterday, the percentage of total cases that were in hospital WAS 4.3%, that cant be escaped. It may end up an under representation due to the time lag of cases getting sicker but you cant predict that they definitely will.

I had an appointment at Campbelltown hospital today.. the situation in there is dire..

Definitely, though 11% of known positive cases attending hospital is a large figure, not to mention the number that are being cared for and monitored at home.

The pressure applied to other areas of the system as a result is enormous.

Can you describe your view of dire? I am interested to learn. I discovered this morning the specialist hospital at Bulli may be converted to a Covid hospital.
