So to go back a few months.......

"The Intercept" has release 900 pages of documents showing that Anthony Fauci was responsible for lifting the ban on gain of function research but even more importantly he (through NIH) funded the Gain of Function Research into bat coronavirus at the Wuhan Lab via Peter Daszak EcoHealth Alliance, prior to the pandemic. Also proves he lied to Congress.

He should be sacked and should be jailed. Incredible that this is the guy leading the US

Fauci sure has some problems

IMO its actually disgraceful and he has been very lucky that there was a bigger more orange target for vitriol.

IMO Fauci has at least perjured himself (jail time) and has been responsible for much of the mistrust and divide regarding the Covid, the vaccines in the US (and therefore wider in the whole world).

There is now an actual compelling case that Fauci may be indirectly responsible for COVID 19 and yet he is still held up as the font of wisdom.

Given Fauci's credentials, I can totally understand the inital decision that he would be the man, but if he was honest and/or someone did little research, he should have been excluded very quickly.

At the risk of dragging this discussion back some months, although "The Intercept" have just recently published the 900 pages proving that Fauci funded gain of function research and despite the fact that Fauci has repeatedly lied and said he didnt and he actually lied to the Senate about it, and despite the US media not covering it and giving it a free ride, it has actually never been hidden.

I have (months ago) repeatedly posted the following link to a Nature Medicne Journal titled " *A SARS-like cluster of circulating bat coronaviruses shows potential for human emergence*". This research published in 2015 clearly and in plain English documents gain of function research into bat derived coronaviruses that make the modified corona virus more dangerous to man. The research says

"*Using the SARS-CoV reverse genetics system2, we generated and characterized a chimeric virus expressing the spike of bat coronavirus SHC014 in a mouse-adapted SARS-CoV backbone.* " Chimeric means put together from more than one part.

"*The results indicate that group 2b viruses encoding the SHC014 spike in a wild-type backbone can efficiently use multiple orthologs of the SARS receptor human angiotensin converting enzyme II (ACE2), ****replicate efficiently in primary human airway cells**** and achieve in vitro titers equivalent to epidemic strains of SARS-CoV.* "

Their research proved that this virus would not respond to current treatments or vaccines. - "*Evaluation of available SARS-based immune-therapeutic and prophylactic modalities revealed poor efficacy; both monoclonal antibody and vaccine approaches failed to neutralize and protect from infection with CoVs using the novel spike protein.*"

The research was led by Xing-Yi Ge & Zhengli-Li Shi (from Wuhan Institute of Virology) - Go to Author information.

The research was paid for by - "*Research in this manuscript was supported by grants from ......... the **(Anthony Fauci led )US National Institutes of Health (NIH)** under awards U19AI109761 (R.S.B.), U19AI107810 (R.S.B.), AI085524 (W.A.M.), F32AI102561 (V.D.M.) and K99AG049092 (V.D.M.), ............. and by USAID-EPT-PREDICT funding from **EcoHealth Alliance (Z.-L.S.).(Peter Daszac, the guy the WHO sent to investigate the Lab Leak Hypothesis)*** "

To cut to the chase I am **NOT** suggesting this the actual smoking gun and DEFINITELY not proof that the virus was *intentionally* engineered as a weapon or *intentionally* released. My point simply is there is scientifically published information that Fauci and Daszac funded gain of function research of coronaviruses at Wuhan Lab.

No wonder he tried to discredit the lab leak hypothesis early on, given he was involved in funding gain of function research at Wuhan.

Of course. If he was funding gain of function research at Wuhan (he was) and it was shown that is where the virus came from, then he is at least indirectly responsible for a pandemic that has killed 4.7M people and caused billions of dollars of damage. Millions of people out of work and businesses and lives destroyed. I have no doubt this is why Peter Daszac was sent to "investigate" the lab leak.

Victoria records 473 cases today from 49.000 tests. The actual numbers could be much higher. I feel sorry for all Victorians and business man and women. 271 mystery cases.

At Saturday's press conference, I thought a couple of journos asked Minister Blaggard about "freedom day"? Like Boris spruiked in the UK? I was hoping Blaggard would have said there is no such thing in NSW, instead, at 70% twice-vaxxed, there will bo some easing of restrictions for eligible people. He didn't. He's either ignorant of NSW govt policy or negligent. Probably both.

A reporter asked a question about the problem with transmission in workplaces, specifically whether NSW Health will contact workplaces where there have been positive cases after "freedom day".

The reporter deliberately said "freedom day" twice so the question was understood by Hazzard.

Hazzard didn't pull the reporter up on it. He implicitly accepted that there will be a "freedom day".

Interestingly Hazzard didn't answer the original question which was a very good one. Instead he started rambling on about public venue alerts.

I think NSW are averaging over 100k a day tests so yes the case numbers down there could be much higher bit of a worry for them as the numbers are rising even under lock down .

I personally see no reason why the government needs to front up everyday. I think a presser on Monday and Friday would be more than adequate to keep the state updated on any changes to mandates, PHO's or potential lifting of restrictions. NSW Health staff can do the daily updates.

Don't agree with them cutting and running altogether. Gladys obviously has to get her ducks in a row for the ICAC.

Based on current cases, they're on roughly a four week lag to NSW. The numbers I've seen is that their outbreak could potential be worse than NSW even though they locked down much quicker. I think Victoria has lockdown fatigue and people aren't prepared to keep doing this anymore. They've been in various forms of lockdown for the best part of a year now. They'll need to jab their way out of it like NSW.

2 days to hit the 80% single dose target, 16 days until 90%.

90% double dose rate has slimmed in to the 9th November, a week earlier than originally anticipated.

Correct. Most people I know are saying things like, "We follow the lockdown rules. Oh, except for sometimes we look after the grand kids for a day." or "except" for something else.

Also, during the first big lockdown the roads were deserted. Now, not so much.

A bit like Sydney, most of the Covid action is in lower socio-economic areas and areas with a high proportion of recently-arrived migrants.

I'm fortunate to live on the other side of the city, so, although we have to live by the same lockdown rules (and I'm good with that), the threat of picking up the virus from a trip to Woolies is not quite as a high.

Singapore are saying that their vaccination rate, which is 80% of **total population**, has not been sufficient to curtail the spread of the Covid Delta variant. They are suggesting that 90% of **total population** would be required and that will be impossible due to vaccination hesitancy. (ABC Report):
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-09-13/singapore-has-80-per-cent-vaccination-but-life-is-not-normal/100450154
With our much lower targets, it is likely that we will have pressure on health systems for quite some time. Of course our population density is much lower than Singapore's , so that will help to some extent.

I think Singapore's population density needs be considered when their COVID numbers are discussed. They have the population of the entire of Greater Sydney living in a space half the size.
