Norman Swan on ABC radio described over 60s waiting for Pfizer as "boomer entitlement".

Im not over 60......but I think that description and that mindset is disgraceful.

What anybody puts in their body and what they do for their own health is intensely personal and their own choice and it is important and for anybody to consider it entitlement let alone denigrate other people as entitled for simply wanting the best for themself is absolutely elitist and disguting IMO.

The message has been and should for people to speak to doctors and do their research and really look into their options and decide on what is right and best for them.

I've got no qualms with people waiting for Pfizer (people want it for the superior efficacy,) but when it's been mandated that a certain age group should get the Pfizer jab due to potential complications with AZ, I believe anyone not in that group who still wants it should have to wait, unless they have mitigating health circumstances.

I stop short of calling it boomer entitlement, we should not be running down anyone who wants to get the jab, but is prepared to want a particular brand. The old folks probably know that Pfizer works from their previous dalliances with their other products (the little blue ones!)

I agree but it's typical of Norman Swan and his biases. He's hardly credible in my view.

Agree 100%. It is important that young people get access to Pfizer as clotting is slightly more likely for the with AZ and as a consequence older people should have to wait for Pfizer but that should just be part of the decision making process.

Agree 100%. It is important that young people get access to Pfizer as clotting is slightly more likely for the with AZ and as a consequence older people should have to wait for Pfizer but that should just be part of the decision making process.

Younger people (16-49,) should be prioritised because they are the bulk of the workforce and they will be the ones spreading it.

Running people down for wanting to be jabbed with a particular brand (particularly a brand that is superior,) is not a way to curry favour with those whom might have been hesitant in the first instance.

My view is we are lucky to have very good vaccines in our country. Unless you have a medical condition which prevents you from being injected with a certain brand, you should take what is available.

I don't have an answer. I just feel it is so unfair medical professionals are required to risk health and death attending to those who will not be vaccinated or who are vaccine shoppers.

If people want to wait for a vaccine that will provide better coverage against a particularly more virulent strain, I am all for that. The more people getting Pfizer the better IMO. If people want the AZ in the meantime, power to them.

For health services and aged care absolutely. Not just for your own protection but for protection of your patients.

If you're working in an Oncology ward and you're not vaccinated you are absolutely putting the lives of your cancer patients at risk. As are you if you work in aged care (they are already being told they need to be flu jabbed.) Peri- and Ante-Natal. All different specialities work with transplant recipients who are on immunosuppresive drugs to stop organ rejection.

Don't be stupid. These days Swan is primarily a journalist and second a paediatrician. He is not a vaccine expert or an epidemiologist. If you value his opinion, good for you. I don't. My response to your last comment was simply "OK" and you fire up over that?

We're not poles apart. I am double vaxxed with AZ. If anybody is silly enough to ask my opinion I recommend vaccination with any vaccine they can get. But, I respect people's right not to get vaccinated. Our medical professionals are brilliant and deserve our support.
