The one hour of exercise per day limit is ridiculous.

I agree but what do they do. They have clearly stated it has nothing at all to do with medical reasons but it's for compliance.

To put it another way it's the easiest way for the police to target people who don't get it.

It’s Fuller thinking that the NSW people serve the NSW police, not the other way around.

I agree but the situation is a disaster. Did you listen to the press conference today. Dr Chant to me appears to be pushing this and she appears right on board to me. It's not as simple as the police force being nightmares. She also confirmed that she hadn't offered her resignation. We have to be careful with news spread via social media.

I do agree with you though. It's just that this is a once in a lifetime scenario. I can also see this turning poorly in certain situations.

I'm hopeful by Christmas we don't have lockdowns ever again. I'm probably too optimistic.

There is a line in the sand that should never be crossed in a democracy regardless of the circumstances, it’s been crossed this week.

What's that line that has been crossed?

Giving the police so much power because they ask for it. **The thing is they are asking for it** to stop movements which stops the health system getting inundated.

No they are not. They are asking for it because it is more convenient for the POLICE. It has nothing to do with stopping movement, those orders were already in place.

I am happy to follow health advice until the cows come. Orders that are there just make it more convenient for the police, not so much.

Vaccinations are not enough. Gladys has to get the numbers way down before any restrictions are relaxed. We need strict compliance and discipline to reduce mobility. Unfortunately the majority pay for the arrogance of those who believe the health orders do not apply to them.

But NSW Health yesterday admitted that most transmission in areas of concern is happening in workplaces and not through non-compliance....

I note Bunnings and many other stores are being closed in the hotspot areas. Perhaps this is in recognition of workplace transmission.

Stay safe, I know you mentioned you live in the hotspot area.

The biggest problem for me is that there are lines in the sand between the one big one drawn. Penalising those that keep the city running whilst letting others have more freedom creates another divide and for mine the limited curfew forments further dissonance.

At least the mask rules are to be uniform.

I'd say so. I'm aware of one Bunnings in an area of concern that had multiple cases last week and wasn't on the NSW Health alert list.

I can't stand these freedom morons but we have to stop these lockdowns. The cost is too high.

At the same time we don't want to be like America and risk losing 10%+ of our population.
America lost 590k with is just under 20% of their population. If you put that into the population of NSW that 500'000+ and our medical practices will be overwhelmed.

I completely agree with you. That is why this situation is so extreme. The issue will be people like myself who are fully vaccinated should be good to go. We are protecting the unvaccinated. At the same time I have a 10 yo son. I also have a 17 yo son and a 19 yo daughter but they've both had their first vaccine. We live in an affected LGA so they've just been able to get vaccinated.

The situation is not so simple.

Earl, I understand vaccinated can still catch Covid and pass it on to others.

You are 100% correct. It will limit the spread and the severity of COVID though. It's just putting the odds in your favor. If the odds are in your favor they are also in the health systems favour and we manage the virus better. So the health system is under less stress. It's just a play on risk profiles.

My take is that our government (both sides) have accepted it's coming and they will manage this via the policy options in the Doherty report. The higher the vaccination rates the better we will live with this.

I think it's a reality situation. We've got to start opening up to the world. We do it with the least possible cost.

For mine, a big line was crossed when the NSW Police Commissioner gave officers free reign to issue fines with no accountability:

We're all trying to play by the rules. Coppers shouldn't have some special exemption.

9 were reporting Oxford University research found vaccinated and unvaccinated had the same viral load and potential to pass on Covid to others. the only difference is protection offered to the vaccinated from serious illness.

If you see going overseas as a freedom that maybe an issue as Canada, the United States and Europe don't allowed you in without proving you have been vaccinated.

I honestly think they just have random sit down meetings and state well let's add this to the list or take that away or do whatever. They just keep trying to stop people moving about as much as possible within reason. Stuff needs to happen. No one knows the perfect lockdown.

I find it funny, let the vaccinated roam free whilst they can still catch it and spread it to the unvaccinated. So why not open up businesses for those workers vaccinated…..

Strange way to run things….

This isn't providing the right picture. It's a play on the information. Yes it's probably true in that you could have the same viral load and spread it just as much if you catch it but you won't catch it as much if you are vaccinated. A good example is that Hoxton Park party. The unvaccinated caught the virus significantly more than the vaccinated.

The big difference is though as you state in that you don't end up as sick (including dying) by a large margin. That figure is more like 90%.

You are not though in my opinion 100% safe if you take the vaccine. You are just a lot safer.

The flip side is the economic cost of not opening up is too much and it won't happen anyway. It's coming. I reckon that sucks but it is what it is.

I am pretty confident the government wants to open up everything. I think the prayer is 80% vaccination levels and there are no restrictions on the unvaccinated. The problem is putting restrictions on the unvaccinated is going to be a loaded political issue. The 80% vaccination levels may mean they don't have to make that decision.

What do you do though. The reality is the unvaccinated cost society more. How do you manage that issue.

Your maths are wrong the yanks have not lost almost 20% of their population, they have not even lost 1%.590k from 380 million is a high number of deaths but still below 1%.
