One thing for sure, the lawyers are rubbing their hands with glee. There will be court actions for decades after all this is over.

Based on what though Mike?

I suspect there will be challenges to the orders currently in place, vaccine discrimination, continuous boarder closures, the breakdown of the Commonwealth (we are basically running as 7 different countries, 8 if you count Federal as well) are the first four that pop into mind. Then you have individuals who think they have been unfairly treated for various reasons. Personally I think it’s a waste of resources but having worked closely with lawyers for a number of years (I don’t anymore) that won’t even be a consideration, many will be just trying to make a name for themselves or their companies.

If your familiar with the words decency/good manners and the psychology connected with those words [and I am sure you are] you would realise that you just cannot say that another persons thoughts or feelings are nonsense [or rubbish... as a few on here like to fling around].
We are all entitled to think and feel what we do, whether we are right or wrong.
As a mod on here I would have thought one of the requirements to be a mod is that you show posters **respect**, no matter how wrong you feel they are.
I suggest in future you say "I disagree very strongly" or similar.

Correct?

He might think its nonsense?

Indeed I do, I mean people need to seriously have a good think about how much in the way of resources the government has if they think they've got the resources to conduct surveillance on you based on QR code usage. It just isn't feasible...

Here is one serious issue with location data, and QR codes could just as easily be used in this way (though I am not suggesting they are at the moment):

They don’t need QR codes to track you. If authorities really want to know where you’ve been they only have to check the gps data on your smartphone. Unless you were a person of interest can’t see that happening, not without massive AI to assist with the volumes of data produced.

Yeah of course, and to be clear the article wasn't about about QR codes it was phone location data. And QR codes are definitely an important measure right now. Anyway I am distracting from the topic so I will leave it at that.

Accessing that type of data needs two things to happen - either you've been kidnapped which ain't cool, or your subject to a serious criminal investigation, which ain't cool.

Good point, you are right because the flu mutates as does covid-19

Whether you’re on one side of the argument or the other about the legitimacy of COVID/Lockdowns/Vaccines, I think we can all agree the world would be a better place if the Tigers weren’t so crap.

haha…in all seriousness though, I think we’re all just fed up at this situation. If this virus has done anything to this country it has divided its own people. It is that reason alone which make’s this one of our darkest times in history.

I respect both sides of the argument and to be honest find myself pretty much smack bang in the middle. I like many others knew this virus was never going away and are frustrated that the vaccine implementation wasn’t rolled out months and months before this outbreak. I have always believed the virus existed (though not through a bat eating a snake or whatever it was) but never believed the hype and fear mongering the media talked it up as. Whether I agree with what the government have done or not or whether the vaccine will work or not to me now is irrelevant. I have and I believe we all need to just swallow our pride and accept this is how it will be and just get the jab so this can finally be over.

I have had my own wedding postponed twice now, my partner’s business she has worked so hard on (and just hired her first full time employee before this delta outbreak) has gone under, my aunt contracted covid (she’s doing ok), My sisters first child 2 months ago and she has not had any family members come and visit/help. I have not been able to meet my newborn niece yet. I have been fortunate enough to keep my job and work from home, however my company has taken a serious hit.

Whether we agree on the vaccine, QR codes or whatever or not, as much as we want to fight it - unfortunately this is reality. If it means all this crap can finally be over and done with, then just do it. It is ruining people’s lives, get the jab, stop fighting amongst each other, come together like Aussies do and lets just finally open up. So over this situation, ill jab anything into my arm regardless if it's going to protect me or not, if it means life can go back to normal. I hate how the 'government has won' in making me live like this, but right now Im just so over the fighting, ill do whatever it takes to open up.

Hey there you are.

For me I just don't want the idea that I and 80% of others are fully vaccinated and yet we have to check in.
From there we could be called up for testing and self isolation even though vaccinated.

Got it

The story in the link was about location data being used in a dragnet way, leading to innocent people being treated as suspects in investigations based on that.

Good to see a lot of logical conversation has returned to this thread. Quality stuff.

These are all interesting concepts in their own ways and creepy. Not what I initially bought this up for which is relating directly to QR codes are they are used for Covid mitigation and the idea one could face relative house arrest if at the wrong place at the wrong time being in proximity to a positive case as I mentioned in my previous post.

However what you bought up is true. In the not too distant future with quantum computers, AI and 5G and the internet of things any surplus identifiers and information we give to the government could create issues at the very least give rise to conspiracy theories.

And as I mentioned in a previous post with link ,Professor Spurrier the CMO of SA wanted QR codes for check in to remain after the pandemic for "future pandemics ".
No wonder some people have conspiracy theories.

But as I said it's off topic but connected in a loose way

I'd like Gladys to halt the spin and admit it is not possible to ease restrictions' The Far West is on the verge of a disaster, hospital cases are surging, Covid infections numbers are far too high and that behaviour needs to change in many areas, most of all the areas of concern.

I have no doubt Kerry Chant is well aware of why numbers will not go down in those areas as she was raised in the South West.

Really nice that Ana P and deputy have locked out a 3 year old boy currently in Griffith from going back to Queensland to be with parents.
Yet they let in a plane load of nrl players families.
