I had an appointment at Campbelltown hospital today.. the situation in there is dire..

my wife messaged me saying a lady in the maternity ward and her newborn returned positive results, dunno where she heard/read that. not too promising when she's due in 7 weeks, home birth may be on the cards

That wouldn't surprise me..

stay safe m8 and your lady..

positive whilst in the ward and i'm guessing baby got it from her post birth, not sure if they are still doing shared rooms or not in the mat ward but this may change things

Can you describe your view of dire? I am interested to learn. I discovered this morning the specialist hospital at Bulli may be converted to a Covid hospital.

Wards and specialist like the high risk foot clinic Outpaitiant services like rehab wards MAFS..are being turned into COVID wards with only Telehealth via phone appointments going forward.. Emergency is already sectioned off

Nepean is the same mate, rehab was decanted last week. Over 1/3rd of the beds currently have covid patients already and that will only rise

There are a couple of cases like that mate. Really take care, you guys will be on my thoughts.

Another factor when considering whether or not to get vaccinated during pregnancy.

My brother is booked in to get his first Pfizer jab tomorrow - it's been difficult to get for some regional places.

yep, pretty sure that threat was the final nail for the missus to get jabbed, just squeezes her 2nd dose in before due date. need to chase up with the doc and see if we can get her in a few weeks earlier somehow

You will recall certain age groups could not get vaccinated with AZ even if they wanted it. I had my GP appointment cancelled as he would not vaccinate me with AZ and there were no stocks of Pfizer.

Yep I wanted to get vaccinated a long time ago but couldn’t because I didn’t meet the criteria. I have had 1 dose now but feel let down by the initial roll out and messaging.

I have to tempt fate but its an achievement that these daily numbers are staying steady. The numbers have been above 1000 for 14 days now and unless you end up in hospital, it seems to have a 14 day life before you are over it.

This means that if numbers can stay steady, although there are 1200 new cases today, effectively the 1000 cases from 14 days ago slip off the active list. It is possible at the current rate that these numbers stay like this which would mean no added burden?

Of course this is all under a harsh lockdown which is not sustainable.

I have to agree that they have stemmed the new cases this is good news .. the lockdowns are working at least ! Vaccination rates up looking good for Mid October and maybe sitting around the Xmas table .

I would think vaccination take up is having a big effect on this, 41% of the state is double dosed. It is also promising to read that NSW looks like it will get over 90% of the 16+ population vaccinated. Our first dose target for 90% looks like it'll be hit in a fortnight, with 80% first dosage to be met by Saturday this weekend.

Target dates for double doses as follows:

60% - 27 days (4th October)
70% - 41 days (18th October)
80% - 55 days (1st November)
90% - 70 days (16th November)

I’m about to get the jab in a couple of hours. First dose. I can think of nothing better to thanks to my crippling fear of needles.

You'll be right. I got my first Pfizer yesterday. Got some muscle aches and a sore injection site but other than that I am fine. No headaches, no fever and no pericarditis!

Trust me, you'd rather the prick than a ventilator. It's a fine needle, you don't even feel it.
