I'm gonna stick my neck out on this one because of this thread -

http://roarfeed.weststigersforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=15714&start=18

From November last year where a couple of usually fine judges on our forum gave him no chance (Willow in particular was adamant) of playing first grade in 2013.

Now of course, nothing is certain. Miller could carve up and carry us to the premiership or Brooks could break a leg in training the day before season kick off, but as it stands, right now, Brooks is a huge shot of playing NRL this year imo. By my reckoning the 7 jersey is on Miller barely, with Tedesco to slip to 1 and Moltzen into 7 if he doesn't hold it down. Moltzen will suck for a game or two and then Brooks will be thrown in.

For the benefit of putting my neck out just as far as our friend Willow, I will predict that by Round 13 of this fine year, Luke Brooks will have run out in first grade. Let the countdown begin.

I think you're right but out by about ten games.Im saying round 23 the exact week that we are out of Finals contention. They will then give him a run.

He's already had a few mins. in a trial

I think Willows changed his opinion since then

Brooks reminds me of Noddy

Okay well let's open up a separate market then, for regular premiership round football and apply this thread to that market. Cool.

I have indeed. I said some weeks ago before the trials start that I believe he will get a run in FG this year. I see no reason to change that opinion at this stage given how he's looked during the trials.

At the beginning of the year i agreed with willow that we wouldnt see him in firsts. The decision to trial him in state cup over the 20s changed my mind. I reckon he will get a run sometime late in the year with an eye to have him starting half in 2014.

Isn't Bennett already snooping around looking at him?

I don't know about that, but the kid is a junior and loves the club,we should make sure he stays here,I think Milky might be getting nervous already.

Brooks will play NRL this year… I'll say by Round 15!

The person who needs to be worried is Ayshford in my mind. Potter already suggested Tedesco & Moltzen should be in the Team at some stage, plus then we also have Bodene who can easily cover Centre.

I'd like to suggest Miller will be given time, but Ayshford should be worried!

One quiet game from Miller, even with the fact it was a trial, and we're writing him off. This place will never change

I think Miller would have to be feeling the pressure from young Brooks.
Sure Brooks doesn't have the experience, but Miller doesn't have a lot of NRL experience either.

IMO Miller should get 8-10 matches to show something. And if he doesn't and Brooks is tearing it up in whatever grade they play him in (NYC or NSWcup), then they should give Brooks a crack.
As they say if your good enough your old enough.

im not so sure, i think it was more of what we've already seen from Miller. Hes reasonably solid but i don't think hes ever going to be to spectacular from what ive seen of him. And with the amount of kicking Robbie did on saturday hes not looking like hes taking a big role in organising play

Love this place. Miller is king one week the future of the club and almost in the same sentence he's been relegated back to NSWCup after a trial match that he did no wrong in. What's the poor kid need to do to get some backing? I seriously don't think any player is safe at 7\. It's been cursed since prince left. And a departure lounge for anyone who sits in it.

I feel sorry for Miller with a very dominate Marshall and Farah in the side.

I believe we should give him a chance to show his wares for at least 6 weeks.

Brooks appears to be the future and if he continues to progress can take over from Miller if he fails.

I don't think the plan was EVER to bring in braith and miller and divide up the kicks evenly, 1/4 to benji, 1/4 to braith, 1/4 to anasta, 1/4 to miller. It was so that it takes SOME pressure off of benji and robbie. Obviously, miller needs to step his game up a bit and get a BIT more ball but i don't think anyone in the team or potter wants him to take complete control of kicking. It also takes pressure of people when playmakers are injured. Just look at what happened without farah last year, benji playing half, organising everything, kicking EVERYTHING while captain (i think). That's too much for him, he needs someone to give him some breathing space and that's exactly what miller and braith are there to do.

Brooks could quite possible be a lot better than miller, and i think he will be. But, potter has chosen miller for the time being to take that pressure of benji and robbie and just play consistently good. not amaazzinggg. Like robert lui, i looked up his price on dreamteam and he was 125k, same as miller despite playing some 40-50 nrl games. Lui wasn't bloody kicking half the kicks and setting up tries left right and centre, he just played consistently and helped partner benji really well.

So, give miller 4-5 weeks. See what happens, if he is AS quiet as on saturday or takes up a larger presence but starts making big errors. brooks in miller out, but if he plays a reasonable game week in week out, no worries! Brooksie is 18, his time will come.
