Apart from possibly Shane Watson what changes would you have made? Hope they lose? That's a bit harsh!!

Starc for Hilfy Yoss

And every time I say drop Hilfy he gets a bag

Here's hopin 😛ray:

Who won the one day game between Qld and NSW yesterday ??

The other post was made before they even picked the 12th man…

Who won? Not sure - I heard Forrest made runs so it must have been NSW

C'mon Yoss don't try and and mislead the forum

since lunch pup and warner have taken the game right to the saffas. warner goes from 90 to 100 in two balls clarkey brings up his fifty in the space of half an hour the two have put on 71 already

Yeah they have hit over 70 runs in 20 minutes and nearly all of them through boundaries. Superb attacking batting from these two.

Disgraceful descision by selectors not to change side

**Won't be watching** and hope they lose

Too bad for you, this has been an amazing batting performance by Warner with his better than a run a ball 100, Clarke with 162 currently containing 32 boundaries and the Hussman steaming towards another century. With 22 overs still to bowl, these blokes should hit 450+ in the first day….

Does anything find that strange 2 blokes sitting in the 90's (well 190"s) and you don't at least try and take the new ball with your quickies ??

Smith has made a heap of captaincy blunders today in my opinion , especially for a guy who is captain of the world's best side

And on that note , do you think that to take the title of the world's best side you should have to beat them on their own home soil ??

Yeah good call wasn't it? 5/482 and Clarke once again smashing a double ton.

Disappointed that Ponting failed again though, it was a great ball which would have got most, but I hate watching him go cheap :frowning:

Yeah absolutely. The way things are going, he may not get another chance to bat in this test match. He is fast running out of chances to state his case (as Huss has magnificently done) for continued selection towards next years double ashes series. Really hope he gets a huge score in the third test.

Smith seems really frazzled by the fight the Aussies are putting up. He had that first test won and then just sat by and watched as we chased, overtook them and almost won the game. Add to that he is having star players dropping like flies. We all react differently, obviously his decision making processes suffer when he is under stress. Right at this moment in time, I believe he has no idea how to combat our middle order. Clarke has almost hit 500 not out against them in 2 digs….

This tour is not going to plan LOL.

As for the rating system question, yes I think to become the number one side you have to beat the best on their home turf.

M.Clarke - First ever player to pass 200 in tests 4 times in a calendar year.
Incredible.

480 runs in a day also pretty damned special.

Honestly think the 334 highest test score by an Australian is going to go down today

Clarke you aren't going to get a better chance with the amount of time at your disposal and as long as Wade doesn't get out early the pitch will probably be at its best

Actually 380 is the highest test score by an Aussie… How about poor Dave Warner? You'd think making a ton and better than a run a ball would be the highlight of the first day but it's almost buried by Clarke!!

You seriously don't count Hayden's 380 do you Yoss

I reckon I faced better fast bowlers in Gladstone club cricket than Hayden faced that day

I know this sounds like a silly comment , but I'm still so so about Warner I think he prevents some of the other players playing their natural game due to the way he plays and the way he monopolizes the strike

Maybe I'm just a stuck in the mud traditionalist ,that's all

That may all well be true but a test is a test and a record is a record. As much as we can grumble about the quality of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe once you start picking which games to recognise it gets a bit hazy.

Besides that Zimbo attack did include Heath Streak… I'd suggest he's a bit sharper and trickier than the Gladstone A Grade opening bowlers...

All I can say is maybe some of these Gladstone blokes should see if they have Zimbabwean in their blood lines ,they may get a run at Test level

Streak was about as scary as a teddy bear

200+ wickets at around 28 is not a bad record…
Personally I'd rather not have had to face him in the nets at his prime.

Without being able to watch or listen to the cricket at work, the South Africans have done well to bowl us out for 550 and that was thanks to a handy dig by Pattinson at the end.

I do Happy man. Hayden faced an internationally recognised attack and batted for a ton of hours against them with only fatigue getting him out in the end. All of the other more fancied bats globally faced this same attack and came up short. It certainly counts.

As for Warner, he isnt a traditional test opener, but when he gets going he demoralises the attack. After lunch yesterday, he went ballistic and so did his captain. Clarke actually followed his lead and what we saw was the worlds best attack smashed to smitherenes. His ability to score a lot of runs quickly is a huge asset. Look at Smith today, it took him over 200 balls to get his tonne. Awesome graft but he worked hard for it.

The ability to score big runs quickly is a huge asset in this day and age.

This match is still very much in our favour thanks to our quick scoring. Hopefully the quicks will find what the South Africans found yesterday morning.
