Great ton to Smith in very trying circumstances he has put us back in front. Happy Haddin has been great as has Clarke but Johnson is the clear leader for player of the series so far. He is killing it with bat and ball.

And from the other side of the coin ,Cook's tactics have been mindblowing at times

You have a ball that is 4 overs old bowling to a No 8 with your best bowlers and you are trying to bounce him out at Perth

The other amazing fact I heard on the radio driving back from a swim is that there has been only 1 LBW in the series

DRS in Australia has certainly changed our understanding especially with the height aspects

Smith gets the big score when we require it the most. That score has been coming for a while. He was the standout in the Ryobi Cup. He's a much improved player particularly between the ears and his confidence is sky high. I'm really happy for him.

Haddin stands up yet again. He's this series Ian Bell. Getting a 90, two centuries and today's 50\. Super consistent. But the difference between the sides is Mitch Johnson who is easily Man of the Series. 17 wickets from 2 matches with a ridiculous average and strike rate plus the runs in the first innings which swung momentum which he had carried through with his bowling.

Nearly 30 runs scored through 4th slip, what does courageous Cook do? Drop in a 3rd man. No wonder they've floundered…

No surprises this team, being treated like a team and not a squad of primary school where everyone must get a go each week…is performing like a team

R.I.P. rotation system

A few are starting to murmur Smith may well be Clarkes eventual successor

With good reason too Ink. Displayed good leadership when he's captained BBL.

I know he's had a slow start to his career but he's got two centuries and a half dozen 50's @ 36.00 which isn't bad. His 111 was a cool headed grafted innings and most importantly, it came when the team needed him to step up the most.

I remember another bloke who didn't score a century until his 16th Test, even got dropped. He ended up scoring 10900 runs @ 51 and captained Australia…

I think when Smith establishes himself as either a 5 or 6 ,(still think 6 might be his spot) we can start talking about him being a vice captain and then a captain

I suppose the problem is no one else is stepping up to the plate with Clarke retirement imminent (2-3 years )

I think 5 is his spot. He plays there for NSW and has had success there. He's matured well and has leadership skills too which isn't quite the case for a few of the players around the Aussie set-up.

If he can develop his leggies to an international Test level ,I'd prefer to see him bat six . At the moment he is still only a part time spinner at best

Happy's ready to eat the biggest piece of humble pie if the boys can clean up the series either tomorrow or Tuesday

Wonder what odds you could of got at the start of the series we would lead the series 3-0 (touch wood ) after 3 Tests

Darren Lehmann take a bow

The way this pitch deteriorated yesterday arvo, the poms will be very fortunate to see Tuesday.

This has been a stunning campaign from the Australians. 3-0 before Melbourne is very special and beyond my wildest dreams for this series. As you said Happy, Lehman and co have done extraordinary work with this side. If Broad misses the rest of the series this could well be a white wash. That would have paid 10 000 to 1 a month ago. Really cannot believe it Lol…..

Does he really need to? If he can, I'll take it of course but I'd prefer him to improve his batting rather than his bowling. I think we just need to get back to picking the best 6 batsmen and if some of them can bowl, fantastic. I'd be much happier with Smith averaging 45 with the bat and 40ish with the ball than him having a mid 30s batting and a low 30s bowling average.

Despite all the Broad-walk controversy, I have to say I feel sorry for him in some small way. He looks to be the only English player (besides maybe Carberry and Root,) who look even remotely interested in being here. He's the only bowler that runs in with his tail up and while the Australian tail end have all stood up with the bat, he is the only one who has offered any resistance after the top five.

Must be hard knowing you're giving your absolute best and some of your team mates look like they could care less.

Yeah I tend to agree CB , but I really wonder what the effects of Cook's poor captaincy in the field are having on this side

Can you imagine trying to bowl to these fields he is setting , really thought Swann could be the X factor for England but Cooks captaincy has given him no chance at all

Suppose the next question is when to declare

Wouldn't mind a 20 minute session before lunch at the Poms

So go crazy for the next hour and set them 480 in 5 sessions
