Cricket Season Thread

I get the feeling we are more likely to leave a spinner in the sheds and play the local boy as the fourth quick(the **guy with the double barreled name**)

Nathan Coulter-Nile.
I reckon he isn't quite test standard yet. He should get a crack at ODI this season.
But you couldn't expect more than 10 overs a innings from him at this stage.

i have only seen him in a few shield games last season and in multiple international games… he looks very average tbh. bowls around 130 kmph with very little swing if any. never seems to trouble the batsmen. we have maybe about 8-10 bowlers in front of him imo.

I vote that this guy replaces James Brayshaw in the commentary team.

Bit of swearing so it may be NSFW

That guy is funny. He just could not get his head around the no ball concept.

Already one wicket down. Rogers runs himself out after looking good. He is managing to get himself out in unusual ways quite often. Well fielded by Anderson but every runout is a waste of a wicket in my opinion.

Watson out going hard at the ball not there yet again. Surprise surprise. The most frustrating Aussie cricketer in my lifetime (24 years).

Graeme Wood wins that award hands down for me

Must admit that Perth has always been one of my favourite Test ground , teams score quickly , wickets always possible and outfield always quick

I like Perth as a test venue now I live in the east.
Love getting home and still having a few hours of cricket to watch.

As for most frustrating:
Bruce Reid because of injury and Greg Ritchie because he had all the talent and nothing up top.

Watson is brilliant in the short form but doesnt seem suited to the 5 day game. He doesnt display the patience necessary often enough.

My opinion he tries to get bat on ball too often , sometimes you just need to let it go and wait for the next one

Yeah both great points. If he gets out in an ODI playing that shot, you say oh well, next time. That was a terrible test match shot, especially at the WACA. He's not reading length at all.

watson reminds me of a typical indian player from 90s or early 2000s.. has all the talent in the world but is extremely lazy.

i still believe he should be opening for us tbh

The Aussies are 4 down midway through the day with Clarke and now Warner gone. They've been protecting a few of the blokes who haven't got runs so it's Bailey and Smith's chance to do their job. Haddin and Johnson will have to chip in too when they get their chances.
We're lucky Broad and Bresnan haven't been on their games so far so we may get out of it.

5 down now. I'm all for positive and aggressive cricket but there are too many shots being played to balls that deserve better cleaner shots. Watson, Bailey and possibly Warner ended up with a hand off the bat when their shot had finished and that shouldn't happen. Poor batting by the Aussies today.
Haddin had to stand-up yet again.

Smith and Haddin providing a bit of resistance. Smith standing up when the team needs him most. Hope he kicks on to a ton.

Me too. He needs to convert soon, else in today's world and it's lack of patience, it is time to say goodbye.
