Could be his type of game day 5 if they need someone to hang around. I can see this match going the same way as the Adelaide test last time they were here when Faf batted all day. SA will be in the same position again to have to bat to save it. Whether they can save it this time around, i have serious doubts.
 
Who cares if du Plessis is a stonewaller? Dravid was too and nobody whinged about him. If anything du Plessis is the perfect Test batsman, it takes an incredible amount of patience and good mental mindset to bat an innings out to a draw or not feel compelled to hit the cover off every loose delivery. How many games in the last two years could Australia have avoided losing by having some of that calibre in the team?

I'm so relieved that Watson was brought into this Test to bowl nine overs and knock over one bowler… Will probably score a hundred in the second innings now that the pressure is off... :unamused:

Yeah you got that right, thats all we hear from you in this thread.

However I do understand that it is not a foregone conclusion and things could go their way…
- we get bundled out for under 100 leaving them with a relatively easy chase,
- it rains and ruins the match resulting in a draw,
- SA dig in and block their way to a draw,
- We set them 400 and they blow our attack off the park in an incredible chase....

Any of these scenarios will give them the series win and will allow you to resume sticking the boot into this side, who on recent form frankly dont deserve it. We have been through many lean and unsuccessful years, it is now our time to get excitied about having a squad who could potentially take the number 1 ranking in the near future.

Why do you hate them so much?
 
I was just as critical as most when the Poms flogged us on our home soil a few years back and have shown dissapointment many times since. But credit where it is due mate, this current mob can play the game and are on the rise. They devastated England over summer and are more than holding their own against the world's best…on their turf.

I havent seen you say anything good about them for a long time, yet when they inevitably lost the second test you were very quick to bag the crap out of them. Even if they fail to secure this series, they have shown to me that they have the talent and the fight in them to continue their charge to number 1\. I applaud the way they are playing their cricket, its been a long time coming and whilst there is still a way to go, they are heading in the right direction. That is hardly arse kissing behaviour.

no doubt he is doing the job SA need and doing it well, just like his century that saved the adelaide test (110* off 367 balls iirc).

its just that i dont find feeling like i am watching the same delivery over and over for hours on end too interesting.

strange timing on smiths behalf? leaves him open to cynicism. i think he should have waited at least a few days or so after this test.

He said something about struggling since ankle surgery. He has been a very good captain of a nation that is notoriously tough to lead. He's retirement can be filled with a batsman but his leadership won't be filled anywhere near as easily. I guess De Villiers will captain but that will leave him with a fairly big responsibility as keeper and top batsman as well.

On the match, I still think the Aussies can and will win this. This pitch is tough to bat on and as long as no more time is lost for weather, I feel they'll be right.

A shot in the dressing room, looks as though Warney is back on the fags. Hope there aren't any teenagers around taking photos.
 
Hopefully they'll last to day 5 but I feel once De Villiers and Amla are removed, the others won't fight back hard enough. Faff has done it before but that was a placid Adelaide pitch haha

I always thought that Liz Hurley was a women GNR ??

Still think we have set them way too many and have possibly batted too long
