Snicko showed nothing but I've heard apparently there can be an anomaly with Snicko when the ball glances the edge.

The ball deviates off the bat in the reply from front on, the ball rotation changes as well.

It was a terrible decision, but the Kiwis' can't blame it for dropping their bundle and keeping the spinners on, particularly when Starc was out there. Should have brought Boult and Southee straight back on to finish them off. McCullum is an awful captain.

That's the thing, you don't even need Snicko or Hot Spot to tell that was out.
The ball trajectory changed completely after passing the bat, it went much more skyward.

DRS should be reserved for howlers, not decisions that could go either way. It wasn't designed to challenge 50-50 calls.

Howlers like the Broad one when the Aussies were out of reviews. The two that they had lost probably were ones that weren't bad calls, yet when they got the howler they couldn't do anything about it.

I'm happy for it to be used whenever the captain wants, purely for the extra element of strategy it brings. If reviews are wasted and then can't be used when needed that's the captain/batsman's fault.

Side note, I have noticed decisions are rarely overturned for LBW when given not out then reviewed by the fielding team. Probably because after the bowler has just run in at 100km/h and thrown himself into his delivery he doesn't have a good view of whether it was going on to hit the stumps, nowhere near as good a view as the umpire anyway.

And once again…

Hazelwood has stepped up in the loss of Starc…good to see...

Neville first stumping too...

Need to rap it up...runs on the board and all...

That was a great Test Match…

D/N...thumps up for mine...

Fantastic Crowds...It will go on my bucket list ...

Love it. Watch cricket in the evening is the best and so is test cricket .. Win / win plus heaps of wickets as the pinky swings around

Happy with that Test, not so much due to the D/N factor, but they actually prepared a pitch that allowed the bowlers into the contest. That pitch in Perth was an abomination.

Your not getting any younger Geo

Better go next year

Seriously though it is a little concerning with the fact of when you bat could affect you adversely

Thought this as well. Overall there's no doubt it was a success but this needs to be looked into. It didn't even seem to be a minor problem, it had a pretty big affect on the game.

Yeah but did that happen with the advent of ODI cricket as well, and it's something that everyone has just become accustomed to?

The media spent so long harping on about the dynamic of playing at night, maybe it got to the players.

I guess the big difference is back then we played far more one day cricket and I can't imagine them playing anymore than 2 D/N Tests in say a 5 match series

And will they even play Day /Night Tests during an Ashes series ??

Just my take on it

They will never play D/N Tests for the Ashes. Our Ashes turnout is already great, and doesn't need this.

It will be off year Test series they'll play this. Adelaide and Brisbane will be my picks. Brisbane crowds were terrible this year and there's bugger all to do in Adelaide. Hobart rarely gets Tests so they'll turn up when they get them.

Can you see the Windies and the Sub Continent adopting d/n Tests ??

Reckon it will go well in NZ and SA

India would probably do it, they'll give any gimmick a run.

Sri Lanka probably not so much. Cricket is dying a horrible death in the Caribbean so they may try anything to revive it.

what a beautiful game, must've been a treat for all ya test cricket fans. du plessis and abd have done it a few times now, the patience needed must be immense. well done also to india in keeping their nerve and getting the job done.

Talking about conditions effecting test matches. It's part and passel of the game. In India you know when they aren't playing SL it's going to be a dust bowl. Test just have to prepare for this.
Likewise With the day/ night test. Everyone knows the ball will do a bit more at night. So it just becomes part of the game.

Yeah, it's a bit monotonous when every pitch there looks like Roland Garros though.

At least there used to be a bit of variation in Australia, although they'll all likely end up drop in highways.
