There's preparing a pitch to suit the home team, then there's that. Every country in the world does it, but none go to the extremes in this series. That was blatant doctoring. The spinners were dominating on day one for gods sake.

It wasn't exciting, but it takes more skill to block for 2 days straight than hit a few into row F in a 20/20 game. Its the most absorbing game in all of sport when a test goes deep into day 5.

Watching S Darsh bat is like watching Boycott in his hey-day…Compact in defence with all the elegant shots.....................straight to the fieldsmen...love the way he lets it go then practices letting it go...
 
Voges went mental there hitting four boundaries in one over. Tell you what, he looks ugly when he has to correct his shot though, went from lining up for a straight drive, misjudged the bounce and had to correct and swat it through deep mid wicket. Looked terrible but it ran to the fence.

Good to see the Windies recover from the first hour pummelling. They're on for a game now.
 
Not sure how the most ardent Aussie fan could have enjoyed that. This Windies got pummeled by grade cricketers last week, what were the national side going to do?

People wonder why Test cricket is dying, this has a lot to do with it, when the number 8 ranked team is playing 3, that's too lopsided. The top 5 teams should just be playing each other, and the the rest can play each other. Test cricket needs all the help it can get, and ''Test Series''' like the one that started today do nothing to help.

Glad i'll be away for the Boxing Day and New Yrs Tests. Imagine having these clowns as your opponents for your two biggest Tests of the yr. Boxing Day is going to look great with a half full MCG. Why would you pay to watch this rubbish?
 
Tbf to this Windies side, its a team missing Gayle, Pollard, Bravo and Sammy who see 20/20 as the better alternative. Them being here wouldn't change the result, but it would at least make it competitive which is what everyone wants. Too bad politics in the Caribbean has other ideas.
 
There has to be a system where you see competitive series that will still allow minnow sides on the up be able to try their hand at the top tier nations.
 
every game can't be perfect, the thing with 5 days tests is what it's always been.. they may end in 2 days they may have barely 2 innings played in 5 days.

this system is fine as it is.. as for the minnows. bangla/zim play plenty of minnows. you can't consider WI minnows yet.
 
The problem is on the other hand it gets boring playing the same countries all the time, unless it's England or New Zealand, beating them is enjoyable every time.
It's hard to find that line between not always playing the same teams but also having competitive matches.

Typical Watson effort from Marsh. Goes out and bashes a ton against a minnow side when his job is on the line. If Uzi misses out for Darsh I'll be spewing deluxe.

And he actually tried to make it look better by saying they have a good attack :roll

That partnership was an embarrassment to test cricket. Showed exactly why there needs to be an overhaul in regards to who plays who.
