You can keep one side of the ball in good nick, let the other deteriorate and you'll be able to get the ball to swing. Sure, ball tampering aids the magnitude of the swing but in fortunate conditions (i.e. natural roughing of one side over the other,) you can still achieve reverse swing without having to d*** around with the cherry.

Sorry mate my point was when blokes like Alan Davidson ,Lillee , take your pick of any of West Indian quickies ,John Snow , Sobers ,Proctor never were able to reverse it why are they so able to now

Nothing has changed in actions , way they get the ball to swing or the way they get it to reverse

So why can they reverse the ball now ??

When say Lillee held the ball to bowl an outswinger , why didn't it reverse ??

We never saw reverse until Akram ,Younis etc started it

I know Safraz Nawaz (which would of been mid 70's) claimed he invented it , but I can't remember him ever reversing it and he was here in the early 80's (82/83 from memory)

Imran Khan was the first guy I saw to reverse swing when he was playing for NSW. Can't remember if he sucked on lolly pops it was a long time ago!!!

Faf's lawyer argued quite smartly that there was no proof that what Faf did affected the ball. You could argue it's what Faf attempted to do, but it wasn't the charge laid. The charge laid was his actions affected the ball. The only way you could prove they did is if you took the ball to a lab to test what the saliva on it contained.

Very early days but young Renshaw looks like a kid who can play, good temperament and thats half the battle. Sadly he is QLD via the uk and via NZ!!!!!

So you mean he can bat for a day without trying to belt the cover off the ball SC :astonished:

Mate call me old fashion but nice to see a couple openers put their heads down and play for day two. He missed a couple of gifts on leg stump, but I like his mindset. Probably given him the kiss of death, but I think the selectors could be on a good un

He looks good. Plays off the pads well, very tall and can see over the ball and looks to be very patient.

The declaration caught us off guard, but Uzi and Renshaw held their own. Was probably good for Uzi actually, saw a bit more patience from him yesterday. The way the Jaapies were bowling they may have collected Warner early on.

Gees Starc is bowling well. In the rhythm now.
Faf's gone.
SA are 4/160, so Da Cock will be in soon.
Who do you think will get Da Cock out?

I don't know but i will watch it on the OLED. It's one of the things I look forward to when I get home.

Where the hell has this performance been? This team must be retained for Pakistan. The kids and call ups all aimed up, give them another go.

So I take it we broke the run of sucks…

Not surprised happy is no where to be seen...

Good to avoid a series whitewash at home. I think one of the commentators said Australia has never lost all test at home in series of three test or more. The West Indies and England must have come close.

Now they have gone down this path they have to stick with it for a while. The only change I would imagine will be Shaun Marsh for Madison…if fit of course
