Cricket Season Thread

All players go through a patch where the edges fall short, get put down or fly between two fielders. At present Smith is going through one of these patches, but it has to be noted he has the class, ability and determination to take advantage of any luck that comes his way. To me he has the mental toughness of a Steve Waugh or Alan Border.

Anyway day one was a great day and Pakistan showed plenty of ticker for a side known to go missing when things get tuff

Arrrrrrrrgh..I miss Tony Bill Maxxy n Ritchie,,,,

Healy is the most annoying dullard in the World of Cricket commentary..makes me want to break the telly…

Pakis fighting hard..I think we were overdoing the short stuff but it paid of then for Starc...

I was so happy for Renshaw the other day..
Media giving him crap for taking his time, and doing exactly what was asked of him.. but showed to everyone his is going to be and 80-100 test player..

Maddinson should be given the series to prove himself. I remember Smith not performing to expectation in his first dig, and we all know how he turned out. Much the same as Tugger.

Renshaw has been a revelation, we need an occupier at the top of the order.

That last session was good to watch in a manner of speaking. Always good to see the bowlers put a fight up. Wahab and Amir played some glorious shots. Devereux was strangely disappointing dropping two catches but that's cricket and it's all about taking your chances which the Paki's capitalised on along with some questionable fielding placements.

Pakis fought extremely hard …full credit to them...

Starc steps up in the end...

CA would be stoked with the Paki's second innings.
The team won and interest has been restored in the series ensuring good crowds for the remaining.
Good game all round.

Must have been an exciting finish

Love Tests like this , probably the most memorable for me was 1982-83 Test v England when Thommo and Border almost got us home chasing 73, only for the tools at 9 to run an ad and miss the final dismissal with us 3 runs short

I don't the Paki's second innings was all ordinary from Australia.

The last session on Day 4 was ordinary, I think Smith and the bowlers were trying to hard. Instead of building pressure and work for the wickets they were trying to buy them.

If Pakistan won it would have been a well earned win. Their bowlers stood up and backed up their last recognised bat who had the dig of his career (thus far.) It wouldn't have been fun to lose it, but it wouldn't be the humiliating loss that some in the media have painted it.

I hope this shows Smith that you should always enforce the follow on.

I think he lacks the confidence in the batsmen to get the job done in a run chase if it came to that

Don't blame him either

Seeing that Australia are the only side in over a 100 years to enforce the follow on and lose (twice actually ) at Test level I think that albatross flies above them as well

good effort by pakistan.the poor buggers havent played a home test since 2009 and continue to play good cricket around the world.

i hope they can produce a similar performance for the boxing day test.

The biggest thing that win did was paper over just how ordinary the Aussies still are. Conceding 450 runs in the fourth innings at a ground you haven't lost at in nearly 30 years is a big problem. Makes you wonder what India will do to them when you see them rack up 750 against England.
