Cummins out until mid-Jan apparently

Awful stuff. Hopefully Pattinson steps up as the revelation of the summer.

The upside is the current bowlers will have a few tests to prove themselves as consistent performers.

I just hope the current bowlers can handle the increased workload because at the current rate of injuries the attack might end up as McGrath ,Lillee , MacDermott and Hogg

Definitely Rodney Yoss
I personally think Rodney Hogg's lips were sewn together I can't remember him ever smiling

If you were being captained by Graham Yallop and Kim Hughes you wouldn't smile either.

Hoggy apparently threw a punch at Hughes on the field vs West Indies at Port of Spain one time, imagine if that happened today!
The irony is they both went on the rebel SA tour together with Hughes as captain and they are now the best of mates.

I'm just wondering why Christian was in the squad?
If they wanted an all rounder, why not Faulkner? Their batting records are similar (Christian avgs 30, Faulkner avgs 29) and Faulkner looks to be a far better bowler (Christian has 89 wickets from 33 games @ 35, Faulkner has 61 wickets from 19 games @ 24). Not only that but Faulkner is younger and has a better economy rate in all forms.

Quote of the year Yoss :roll

Can I use that as my signature ??

Probably to help them with their prayers Jazza

I'm so sorry I had to I tried to stop myself

So what is the saving grace for Phil Hughes this Test . Personally I think he needs to score runs and look comfortable at the crease At least two half centuries if we bat twice

The innings in SA where he got runs didn't look comfortable and was pretty lucky in my opinion

Sure go for it!

NZ struggling on what appeared (in photos in the SMH this morning anyway) as a bit of a green top.
2/13 - a wicket each to Siddle and Pattinson.

very green pitch ball moving a lot off the seam and through the air.

on a side note congratulations to M. Clarke for winning his 4th toss in something like his 20th match as captain. looks like this was a match you have to win the toss with and bowl.

also vettori not playing so thats a huge blow for NZ thats for sure

That's Ponting-esque.

8 down now getting close to the batting master class by Martin which i eagerly anticipate

Brief but to the point from Martin! Out for a golden duck. Another "5 for" to Pattinson and he's on a hat-trick next innings.

yep martin does what he does best miss the straight ball and get bowled for his 32nd duck i believe.

pattinson looks like the real deal and shows why his been in touring parties for a while now 11 wickets in his 3 innings is a good start by anyone standards and back to back 5 wicket hauls.

pressure will be on hughes but i think this could be his time to shine. im a big believer and his stats show that he is something special. he may not be in the best of form but his a 23 year old and scored 17 first class centuries and saw something during the week after the same amount of tests matty hayden was way behind in stats and that to me shows he has a future. he may be unorthodox but thats something that can be his downfall but also be his biggest success.

also over night Sehwag broke the record for highest ODI score with 219 off 149 he is incredible. will be hard to beat considering he is only the second player to score 200(other tendulkar)
