McSweeney surviving but that's all 4 off 31 balls .Problem is he doesn't have many shots .If we want to be a champion test side both openers need to have some attacking shots .

That bcoz he was the wrong pick. He’s not an opener either. It was a baffling selection to me.

Not that I think Santner would have completely changed the results of the first two games, it just goes to show we aren’t the only ones making some baffling selection decisions.
Maybe @kiwitiger can shed some light on that one?

My memory failing so lucky I've got all scores of all cricket matches on my tablet .He only played the 2nd of the 3 tests .Maybe injury or selection ?
But in the 2nd test he got 13 wickets !
So now his first test since then and top scores with 76
Commentators said his golf handicap +2 not bad

Will Young who was only recalled for the final test here was man of the series.
Was dropped for Kane W.
Santner is a interesting one. As a bowler could tie up an end with changes of speed/flight but even today has turned a couple. Never really did that until india. Stokes just missed a straight one today however.

True and that is the difference from being in form and trying to find it again.The longer he stays the more it will come back to Smith

I’d love to see him go out after a big 12 months, but you know if he does he’ll play on until his form is gone again.

If his form warrants it he should be picked just like anyone else
