Cricket Season Thread

how boring is test cricket @ the mo. Im finding myself watching NFL and next the NBA more on One HD at the mo,

Not going too well with the bat. The problem is guys are getting in then getting out. We just need someone to get a start and go on with it. Hopefully Pup or Huss can go on and make a big ton.

North and Huss are most probably on their last legs but I wouldnt write them off either….

I'd write North off. He shouldn't be in the team .

Huss can stay

Time for Haddin to step up and give Australia a good lead. Huss looks set as ever and if Haddin supports him and does some strokework, the lead should build up 200+ provided Johnson can put on another 30.

 you wrote this after you saw him get out….

fair enough I suppose...

Hussey is looking good. Playing pulls and cover drives. He plays them well his in form. Had a chance early but got away with it.

North another failure. Smith, Khawaja and Ferguson could put themselves in the spotlight with a big century. Hughes could as well if they are considering moving Watson to 6\. North is too much feast or famine for me. He scores big hundreds when everyone else is and struggles when everyone else does. You want a reliable 6 who gets a 30 or 40 every time. A partnership is needed and often North can't produce. I hope his part-time spin isn't keeping him in. He is there to bat.

I would really like Hughesy to get a look in and Watson to be the no. 6.

As Allan said, you need a reliable 6 who scores 30 and 40 everytime and Watson is that man IMO. Also, Australia has tasted a lot of success with two left handed openers

We need Huss and Haddin to go on with it tomorrow, or the tail will need to wag. We're 40 runs down as it stands. If Huss and Haddin build on their partnership tomorrow, and get us to a score of 410 (150 run lead), we should take it out. If we get rolled for under 300 (a big possibility if Huss/Haddin go early tomorrow, considering Doherty is untested with the bat at test level, while Siddle and Hilfy are pretty ordinary batsman), England are right back in it.

CONGRATS HUSSEY! HE IS BACK!

Alien's Aust team would have went well in the first test I think. Siddle and Hilfenhaus would have come in if Bollinger and Harris weren't fit to play ofcourse.

1\. Katich
2\. Hughes
3\. Ponting
4\. Clarke
5\. Hussey
6\. Watson
7\. Haddin
8\. Smith
9\. Johnson
10\. Harris
11\. Bollinger

12\. Siddle
13\. Hilfenhaus
14\. Doherty

I wouldn't say Huss is back just yet, he's had a few good knocks in his lean run, his problem has been that they were not happening often enough. He's probably locked down his spot for the series, but I'd like to see him do it consistently before I start saying he's back.

195 runs including a 307 match changing partnership is a great start to the series for him. I hope he can find his old form, he's an absolute gun when he's at his best.

its going to be a bloody draw unless we can somehow find another couple of wickets today . . .

bloody poms . . .

wow, hilfenhaus is sh!thaus

bring back bollinger

Hilfy is alright, you want sh!thouse look no further than Johnson, now that batsman are leaving his wide trash alone he has nothing. Hilfy at least beats the bat and looks like taking wickets.

Hughes isn't the answer unfortunately. Our problems don't linger at the top. Ponting, Clarke & North (Hussey still to some extent,) are sporadic performers. North has to make way for Ferguson, Smith or Khawaja. Preferably, I'd take Smith over any of them as he can bat, he's a demon in the field and we could do with another spinner. Seems pretty disgraceful that he was the only bowler to take a wicket in the English 2nd innings and be the only bowler with an economy rate of less than 2.5

Why would you dump the guy who took six wickets for bugger all in the first innings and keep the guy who was the only quick not to take any wickets and conceded 170 runs between both innings? Siddle was easily the difference between the draw and the loss as no bowler looked to have answer except for him. Johnson needs to have a stint in Pura Cup. Bolly can easily take his place and perform better.

Same team in the 2nd test IMO. No changes except maybe move Haddin up the order before North.

I saw some highlights of North and geeze he looks SOLID!. I'm ready to give this bloke another chance but I'm not a selector. Johnson has been underperforming for a while but maybe he could be replaced by Bollinger, but IMO Johnson deserves another chance. So, same team for me.

Johnson has been woeful for a while now, time for him to go in my books. I am still wondering what it was I ever saw in North, he's dead set ordinary.

Watson
Katich
Ponting
Clarke (Fergy in for him if he's not right for the game)
Hussey (moves to 4 if Clarke is out for game 2)
Smith
Haddin
Doherty
Siddle
Hilfy
Dougie
