But we all know NSW produce the best young cricketers.
With a national side still in transition, young players are going to be preferred to older one's. No point picking guys like Dave Hussey who are just going to retire in 2 or 3 years anyway.
We have basically gone through 2 transitions in 5 years because we replaced the first batch of retirees with 30 year olds.
First we had Langer, Hayden, Martyn, Gilly, Warne and McGrath go.
Followed by Lee, Symonds, Clark and Katich with Ponting, Haddin and Hussey approaching their twilight.
Who else would you consider who is young, in form, ready and not from NSW? There's Cutting and Pattinson who would replace Johnson and Siddle and they arent from NSW anyway, Wade for Haddin, Peter George from SA, Coulter-Nile would be in the mix barring injury.
But I cant really think of any batsmen or openers who can slip right in besides Khawaja and Marsh. I'm not sure if Warner is ready but at least he has scored runs unlike the other openers around.
Yeah but Warner might get 40 -50 but what is the use if its of 20-30 deliveries You want your openers to take the shine off the ball and build an innings around him Everyone hoping we have openers like Hayden and Langer at the moment in the works may need to sit down for a while . We need to find a side that can score 300+ consistantly and can take 20 wickets at least 4 out of every 6 tests . We would be flat out doing it 2 times a series atm
