Cricket Season Thread

I think I am falling in love with Cricket again…

What a great last 45mins to watch.

Cmon Ricky and well done to our fellow Wests Tigers fan Michael Clarke

As soon as I type that… timber! 2/8 Marsh out.

Wanted: 1 spine. Please contact the Australian top order

Still not convinced by Shaun Marsh at test level. He's starting to do what he does at 1st class level. Looks great when he's in form but fails a lot. Big test for the Rickster at his home test.

Khawaja must be scratching his head as to why he got dropped for Marsh - at least UK looks like he is going to get some runs.

Marsh was very consistent to he got injured… you miss out in 1 and half tests and blokes call for your head!

He has got more consistent with age at first class level, and has now strung 3 very good first class seasons together, he has been very good in recent years in short term games for Australia and in the IPL, BBL etc.

3 tests ago he scored 100 on debut, he followed up with an excellent hard fought 80 under pressure, then in the innings that Clarke scored the lone hand 100, Marsh played the only other innings of substance, an hard fought 40, given the situation, it was worth much more. He got injured in the second innings.

He than gets fit hits an amazing 99 in a BBL game to get the nod.

batting is a fickle thing. even good players miss out, 3 innings (4 if you count the one when he batted at 10 injured) is nothing and does not warrent dropping a player that has been groomed for 3 seasons to come into the team.

Seems the pressure is now off Ponting and Hussey, and moves onto Marsh.

We are actually going ok in a lot of respects right now, winning in Sri Lanka and drawing in Sth Africa is pretty good, and we are going well against India.

My thoughts exactly. The way people have been going on about his inclusion is as if it was some insane injustice that Khawaja was axed. Going back before the kiwi series when both Marsh and Usman were in the side, Marsh was clearly the better performer of the 2, and Usman has done little since then to convince us that he deserves his spot. Marsh has had 3 poor knocks in a row and people want the red pen through his name for good, I think he's worth persisting with because he's proven that he can perform at this level.

Weather permitting, we should really smash India in this Test. We have their number with the ball, and they have no imagination bowling to us. I really don't think Dhoni is that great a captain either, setting defensive boundaries instead of trying to build pressure on Clarke and Ponting.

They effectively waited until Ponting got himself out, there was no tenacity about his dismissal at all.

Fantastic work from Ricky…the pure joy on his face when he got that ton was brilliant to see. 250+ runs so far out of 3 digs this series should surely be enough to shut up the morons who wanted him gone. Out and out champion!

Clarke is playing a superb captains knock.agree with Marshall majic, the venom being spewed towards our legends is a disgrace. You can talk about the young fellas till your blue in the face. At this point in time NONE of them are good enough to replace these blokes.

200 for Clarke. And we're still on Day 2\. No need to even think about declaring until at least this time tomorrow.

clarke showed true grit out there to get to 250 will be interesting to see what happens does he declare overnight knowing india can bat for 2 days easy especially dravid and laxman and give themselves the best chance to win it by getting a lot of time to get the 10 wickets

An innings and a partnership that will go down in the record books….in the 100th test at the SCG too

Magnificent!

No way to Overnight deceleration , this pitch will start getting ugly tomorrow night , Ideally you would declare after tea tomorrow , chances are we will be all out by then . India could not bat for 1 day on this pitch when it it was new , no way they will
Be able to bat for 2+ days , good chance it could be all over on day 4

I choose the perfect day to go to the cricket!! Sitting in bay 30 below the brewongle stand we were being cooked by the sun in the first session, but by lunch we were in the shade and able to enjoy punters 100 Clarkes double and husseys 50

no way does he declare, use the pitch while the conditions are good, make india bat day 4 and 5 if they want to save the test. if we can (which is a big if) i'd bat until an hour before stumps tomorrow.

frankly if they bat day 4 and 5 on the SCG wicket, they deserve the draw.

Agree. Even a declaration tomorrow after tea gives us 2 days and a session. We want to make sure there is zero chance of us having to bat again.

Also I'm sure we all remember India making 7/700 against us. Be nice to return the favour.
