Thought it was thw usual farce of a game it normally is to be honest.

Dont see why Maxwell should be ashamed. He was only facing his third ball and had hit his previous two for fours.

**Dont see how Sri Lanka were ripped off either…Its a 20/20 game and those clowns wanted to walk off the field due to light drizzle. I swear at times todays cricketers have to be up there with the biggest pussies in world sport (not quite soccer players but catching them at an alarming rate).**

All in all, I had the game on but didnt really give a toss. It is just that sort of thing for me.

LOL.. short memory.. same crap happened in the SCG one dayer, when the game was called off.

also, let's say maxwell/perera incident was "heat of the moment" but for wade and warner to come on the ground and start swearing again is bloody ridiculous. some of these blokes are absolute tools.
remember when the aussie cricket team had langer, martyn, gilly, ponting etc… A1 team, although humble as well. cant say that for some of these new idiots

I can't say that the cricket elder statesman Shane Warne is giving a good example to the younger players who follow their idols.

I have reached the conclusion today that O'Keefe will never play a test despite being far and away the best spinner in shield cricket. It is amazing that a tried and failed spinner like Doherty gets a gig over him in India. He must've pulled a Brad Hodge and pissed the wrong person off. I think the squad they've taken is a shocker, and the obsession with picking an all-rounder will hurt us. The only player we have who is good enough to be an allrounder is Watson and his body can't take it so we may as well just go with specialists.

It's absolutely ridiculous isn't it?

I honestly think they pick sides based on one day form rather then Shield form. If they picked on Shield form straight away O'Keefe would be there ahead of Smith, Maxwell and Doherty.

Doherty averages nearly 50 in first class cricket. O'Keefe's average is nearly half of that and he can bat too.
There's just no excuse for him not being selected yet. I can only think that they picked Doherty because he bowls the ball quicker which is advantageous in Indian conditions, but to me it just looks like they're reading too much into other factors again rather then just out and out performances.

They seem to be over complicating things at the moment.

yep exactly, that incident hasn't been highlighted enough in the australian media.

I agree also in regards to Warner and Wade , but don't you think someone as experienced as Mahala Jayawardene should of got the umpire involved to automatically defuse the situation

And to say that he doesn't play the same game ,remind me who was the player while speaking to the commentators who acknowledged he was trying to intimidate the umpires with his comments about the rain that very same night (Don't worry I thought it was funny also  but ….... )

People in glass houses Prmz ...... You can't whinge about it one minute and then play by the same rules the next

for far too long, sub continental teams have been bullied and sledged out of the park by teams such as australia, SA, england etc. if anything, i laud mahela's decision to stand up for his team. an idiot like maxwell had to be taught a lesson that you cant just swear at ur seniors and get away with it. and the umps? LOL.. they would've just said.. calm down mate. end of story.
maxwell STARTED it. wade and warner re-ignited the flare. all in all a bad look for australia.

as i said, mahela was peeved off. lanka had been robbed twice already, he wasn't gonna let go of the scg game no matter what.

Prmz It wasn't only Mahela that responds , thats one issue

Second issue whether they are experienced or inexperienced they shouldn't speak to each other that way

You claim that all other countries bully Sri Lanka

Prmz I'm not sure how old you are but do you remember Arjuna Ranatunga threatening Craig McDermott with his life (His exact words "You'll take your life into your hands when you come to my country" ) before the World Cup when Sri Lanka won One of the reasons Australia and the West indies refused to play in Sri Lanka during that World Cup was based on Arjuna's comments

The only reason Australia players are villified are because of our dominance of cricket at the time Every team in international cricket is involved in sledging and if you aren't mentally strong enough to deal with it as a player you shouldn't be out there

Again , people in glass houses …......

Would never take anything away from their playing ability but all their mental toughness is a myth imo. They are flat track bullies in the sledging department. But as soon as they meet their match in the sledging department they crumble. A good example of that would be Harbajan. Regardless of what you think of him he did a great job of putting them off their game

As an ex wicket keeper I loved the chatter GNR and I'd sledge my own players , and I'm talking about Australia at our peak not now Our current side is weak minded imo especially without Ponting and Hussey

I'm pretty sure he was referring to how Maxwell carried on while the Lankans were taking their time for the final delivery

It was getting a bit ridiculous but the umpires should have been the ones telling them to get a move on. Worst thing for Maxwell was the final ball was again in the slot to carve over point…
Shaun Marsh must be on borrowed time. I know you've got to get your eye on but he makes his old man look like Sehwag at the moment.

exact words by maxwell were :"hurry up or gtfo" wouldnt recommend speaking like that to players who are 10-15 years more experienced than you. strong lack of respect

The amount of time Sri Lanka was taking for that delivery was ridiculous. There was no need for a committee meeting to discuss the delivery. That was all a ploy to play mind games on Maxwell, get him nervous. I would guarantee they didn't even discuss any tactics in that talk, they didn't even end up changing the field and the ball was bowled in the same spot as the last two.

Because someone has more experience doesn't mean they should be shown more respect. Maxwells choice of words probably weren't great but neither were the actions of the Sri Lankans.

the amount of time taken is useless.. the umps should've said something, maxwell shouldntve

u keep dodging the point that maxwell STARTED it. if someone swears at you in a sporting environment, you dont keep your mouth shut.. you show 'em where they can shove their mouth.

im an australian and i didnt like the way aussies came out of it, looked like sore losers.

Prmz I'm not dodging anything

An old saying "It takes 2 to tango " If the 4 Sri lankans don't respond and report it to the umpire he handles it

I wish Dicky Bird was still here training the umpires how to handle escalating situations , he was the master at it

Then the blame could be aimed solely at Maxwell No questions at all

My point is you seem to think teams from the sub continent don't sledge or cause any problems

I would beat all international teams have players who sledge

initially my point was that maxwell, wade and warner didnt give a good look to the aussies.
the point that u STILL ignore.

your point is that subcontinent teams dont sledge or cause problems.. two different scenarios here.

whoops sorry, i only read the last two sentences of your post for some reason.

as for lankans reporting.. i've already addressed that in the previous posts.

do sub continental teams sledge? yeh probably do.. but they are still saints compared to aus in that dept. some say it's a good thing, some say it's bad. they go over the top imo… try to assert dominance through sledging, make themselves feel superiors. dont like it.

Unfortunately sledging is a part of a lot of sports Rugby league included

But your saying that because the Aussies sledge more that makes it worse and therefore Australian players worse

My opinion is you can't judge either unless one doesn't sledge Both sledge ,both are as bad as each other

It would be like saying that because one person steals more that makes them worse than one that steals less They both steal they are as bad as each other Just my opinion Prmz thats all

As i said if the Sri Lankans don't reply or just laugh at him , they make Maxwell to look like a tosser and then report it post match and then he cops it sweet then

Personally I loved the sledging , it made sport even more fun especially if it is kept in the right spirit

How about we agree to disagree

Gilchrist was a yappy, mouthy flog behind the stumps more often than not…he got himself brownie points when he walked before being given out a couple of times though I suppose.
Can't really say that Ponting was a great sport either TBH,he was an arrogant bastard usually.

Both great players without a doubt but as far as being humble......not so sure

:roll Man, you really need to open your eyes! Teams are hammered mercilessly in the subcontinent, whether it be by the fans, corrupt umpiring, extremely biased media or clowns like Ranatunga trying to intimidate the officials. That is a well known fact.
People from the subcontinent need to harden up and stop carrying on like spoilt little babies when they don't get their way, no wonder they never ever beat anyone decent away from their home turf. Sooking will get you nowhere in international sport.

Watching the AB Medal, Phil Hughes as domestic player of the year? He's scored a few runs but surely Jackson Bird should of got it.
