Did you slip him the tongue when you gave him the kiss of death?

@GNR4LIFE said:This has been coming for a long time. The Aussies have been an average side ever since the 06-07 Ashes. They've only won one or two series of significance since. They get smacked, then they bully a weaker team and the smacking they got prior is forgotten. No one will forget this in a hurry though.
Where do you even start? Burns, Vogues and Neville have to go. Ferguson did nothing to show he was a solution. And Lyon was finally exposed for the average spinner he is.
I don't see a quick fix here. I think the Paki's will be a challenge provided they handle the bounce. And the Aussies will find Yasir Shah unplayable. Don't even get me started on how the Indian tour will play out.

Yes you are so right it has been coming for awhile now. We hit rock bottom a few years ago before Lehmann came in and rectified the situation. But now we're going down that same path again.
I really think our Sheffield shield comp is too Micky mouse at present and isn't preparing our batsmen/ bowlers for the challenge of international cricket. Lastly I do believe now the series is dead that the selectors have to go with youth and blood them now.
I think Burns and Voges have to go with maybe a Bancroft and Handscomb. The Marsh brothers should be in the mix also or another allrounder.
@Cultured Bogan said:Cricket Australia have lost their way with identification of red ball talent and the pathways they put them on to prepare them for the Test arena. A large portion of the problem is the stop gap solutions in North, Voges etc and this hard on we've had for all rounders. When your top order is as brittle as ours, you cannot afford to not have a specialist bat filling in at #6.

Hard to identify the talent when there's bugger all First-Class cricket played. Not enough players head over to England to play County Cricket in the winter anymore, preferring the T20 roadshow. Can't say I blame them with the difference in money though.
I also think the scheduling of our domestic season needs fixing. They should start the Summer with the Sheffield Shield so there's enough time for players to prove their form and selectors to pick a team accordingly. Leave the Matador until the end of the season.
@Cultured Bogan said:No one is forgetting the Jaapies are a good side, we're woeful though and not even providing a remotely solid challenge. We're throwing wickets away, the Saffas didn't even have to try.
You could bring Wade in as a #9, he'll definitely bat better than Siddle and he bowls quicker than him too.
@Sabre said:What do we think about Ferguson?
Does he get another chance?
He's a fair age and failed in both Innings but his Sheffield Shield form is superb.

@tig_prmz said:the thing about the old australia teams had been the fight with the talent. the middle order especially. at the top, you have smith and warner, but in the middle- voges, marsh, ferguson, nevill- they dont instill fear in the opposition. if i was philander or steyn, i'd know that if i keep bowling at the right place i'll get the wicket.

Maddinson should be nowhere near the Test team. He makes David Warner look like Rahul Dravid. His brain explosions are absolutely ridiculous.
