HAIL BEAU !!!!
Was there live great performance
Only just got home Daughter and Son in Law and his mate went to city to celebrate
The first hour of bowling by Pat and Bolo 4-16 to wrap it up did the trick
Only 2 fails Marnus and Smith ( whos stuck on 9999 runs )
Don't worry Smudge it won't be for long
They sure missed Bumrah but then again Starc was virtually a passenger from 2nd innings MCG onwards .
I think both Konstas and Webster are test team regulars for a while now
To India thanks for the spirited competition but 3-1 is comprehensive and
WTC final is now locked in Australia ( current holders)
Vs South Africa who got there with a soft draw and avoided some of the big boys !
For Sri Lanka end Jan they will probably go with 1-2 pace men and 2-3 spinners
Boland is almost first picked whether Hazelwood is available or not

Plus Cummins is a true all rounder who usually puts the supposed all rounders we select to shame.
Webster had a very good Test Match. Good on him.
A true allrounder is a Kallis or Flintoff. Or more modern, Ben Stokes with almost 7000 runs and over 200 wickets. Cummins hasn’t cracked 1500 runs. He’s a bowling allrounder at best. He’s a bowler who can bat a bit.

If he didn’t bowl 30 overs per innings he could work on his technique and bat higher in the order.

Funny you say that. I’ve only been thinking recently how they’ve been obsessed with allrounders ever since Flintoff dominated them in the 05 Ashes. After that series, it was all about finding an allrounder. Watson, Symonds became regulars. In recent years it’s been Marsh and Green. You would think given how weak the batting is and how strong the bowling is, they would focus on just picking the 6 best batsmen in the country. It’s not like they are in need of a 5th bowler most of the time.
Who would you have as the 6 best batsmen, given many also want Marnus and Usman out of the team as well?

Konstas told to play his natural game and does so - punters whinge.

All the air got taken out of the run chase when he departed, luckily there was enough resolve from Webster and Head to keep scoring at a decent click.

Bumrah being over bowled cost them dearly.
Yeah his intent put India on the back foot. I agree with the criticism of the shot that got him out and it was unnecessary as he was milking them at that point but those fields India set were systematic of their concern over our run rate. Kohli is as bad as captaincy as he bats these days. To see those defensive fields at 4/110 odd was nuts. They needed wickets.

I've noticed you are critical of some Aussie players and lacking praise on the rest ? I see the reference to Flintoff ,Stokes etc
Are you a pommy supporter when it comes to cricket
No problem as this is Wests Tigers Forum and at least we agree on what NRL team we follow .
No more international cricket till 29th Jan and I have zero interest in BBL
Not long after that I'll be switching to NRL mode !

I was there ! While Konstas was batting the crowd were buzzing
He just gives you the feeling we are gunna get there
His confidence rubs off on some others
I just watched Day 3 again Steve, I just had to rewatch Webster’s innings, (I’ve been calling for him all series), it must of been great to be there for the game and series win. I was there when pup won us the game with the ball on the last day and it’s one of my best cricket memories.
How good and humble was Bolo, 21 at 13.
I did hear the commentators praise the selectors for picking Sam and how “brave” they were picking Beau. Not the way I seen it. Sam should have played 5 tests and Beau at least 3.
I reckon the difference is we were better at crucial times and our squad is deeper. We don’t rely on 1 player.
Did you get down onto the field at the end of the day? That looked kool, I’d love to get a close up of that pitch.
Test Match Cricket is still my number one game.

That’s how society rolls. They love shiny objects. It’s like when you see “influencers” make it big on social media. Most who get big get there by having no talent. Yet true people with talent, like song writers get ignored. Not saying the kid doesn’t have talent btw, but the fanfare has been OTT all because he came out Boxing Day and played a few ramp shots.
I as told by my daughter in law that her friend who is an influencer, likes to be referred as a content creator. I call them parasites

I was critical of Websters selection, talk about egg on your face. The boy did good

Yep, they're in their own little bubble and probably too close to some of the incumbent players. 'Great bloke that everyone loves' or not, Marsh hasn't performed to his actual level of ability.

And frankly if the squad love having him around so much then surely he is better as 12th man anyway? Likewise the repeated 'well he was Allan Border medallist last year' crap from Langer, a shame nobody pulled him up to ask him the likelihood of Marsh winning it THIS year?

If they were serious about selecting on form Webster would've been in for T2 or T3. What a dream debut he had.

Been out of town so only got to watch/listen to small snippets. So happy for my man Beau Webster, been a big fan of him for the last couple years and he’s been banging down the door to the test team harder than anyone else in Shield cricket the last 2 seasons. Looked really good batting in the first innings (unable to watch 2nd) and thought he bowled well also giving our frontmen some rest.

They use to have a disabled fella around the team too, but he didn’t get to play.
Marsh due to last years form should have been told and given the first 2 tests max, to redeem himself or ya gone. That would have been fair. Brave would have been dropping him for test one not 5.

Yeah mate he proved me wrong....maybe the Sheffield Shield is in a better place than I thought

No doubt about it
The public have spoken and the verdict is Test Cricket
No wonder they call it " first class "
I didn't make it all the way to the field but stayed as did many for presentation
You and I wanted the " bison " gone and I was super impressed with Webster and surprised me a bit
Big Beau has earned his stripes at 31
Konstas has also earned his at 19
Noticed when the kid was belting boundaries the large Indian sections of the crowd went silent and when dismissed they came back to life
Now 23 days of boredom
Sri Lanka vs Australia in Galle 29th Jan - 2nd Feb
Todd Murphy , Mathew Kunneman and Mitchell Swepson added to squad
Capt Pat likely to stay home

India have only won one test in the last 8 tests. Losing 3-0 to NZ at home then 3-1 to Australia away.
I’m looking forward to the test championship against SA. And the SL series ahead.

Itll be very interesting to see how theyll go over there without the skipper.
He is clearly the heart and soul of the team.
