Cricket Season Thread

in this game SA threw away a few wickets from bad shot selection but due to good bowling.

india and england bring something extra to a summer it would be good if they could be here more often the pims bring a good atmosphere

new zealand they play ok as a team but lack that brilliance
i think they can beat aussies but I would want a $3 price to find out over four test series. They should have that grit about them to hang in there unlike the poms. It should be a competitive series.

Do think india get the job done at home against aussies

Kiwis are going to miss Wiliamson

Kiwis are going to miss Wiliamson

sure will miss him
I havent seen a price for the series yet.
Only 4 tests series too

some are super passionate about Smith for sure lol
some take their cricket very seriously lol
last summer was outstanding the meltdown from a select person on here about anything negative Steve Smith was too funny

like aussie bowling is sensational

batting is pretty weak i reckon still, last yesr it was Head and Smith that got aussies going, how long can Smith keep going for ?

as i said to Happy yesterday i took some of the draw at $3.20 and laid off my South Africa win bet,
you watch the aussies win now and I get a duck egg this test lol

We've dined out on our bowling and one big score per innings for quite a while now. Need a couple of reliable batsmen in the top/middle order.

it is slim pickings, Travis Head bats well at home but not sure he is an opener really.

At the current rate we are going to lose over 100 overs in the Test
Feels like a Sydney Test 😆

@kiwitiger
Look at you to cheeky buggers giggling away.
It was really hard not biting on that. 🎣

So what do we set SA based on 2 full days

Bat for 2 sessions and half and hour

Try and set them 360 to 380

Sound good .....thoughts

Maddinson obviously trying to prove he can score runs after a 33 ball duck but a 38 ball 40 isn’t test batting either.
It’s hard to have a settled line up without a couple of decent openers.

What's the answer though? Renshaw probably has the best technique and temperament for an opener but who else is there? Head is great when he comes off. Maddinson is a huge question mark.

Yeah will want to bat them out of the game and get a few more overs into the pitch and their quicks. Think they bat at least till tea maybe longer

I see lots of criticism of selectors but I also don't see a lot of answers to the openers question. We have a lot of guys who can bat 4-5 at international level, very few who can bat in the top 3.

The run rate is far higher than I thought we could manage
If we can 380 + ahead by tea I declare then
Very dependent on weather /light though

375 i think the aussies might go for

They lose another wicket quickly they might struggle to get a 320 lead

its been a good test match apart from the poor light fiasco

Renshaw actually batting well in the 5 though. Anchoring the middle order and hanging out there with the tail. I do agree he should be opener, I'd like to see Head drop back to 5 and find someone else to open with Renshaw.

Beats the couple of 2 day fiascos during the Ashes

they were a disgrace

I think if the light situation is going to be the same for today and tomorrow they're getting pretty close to having enough now.
