Here's the issue I suppose

Yep, it’s average reading. Sam looked good but I don’t think the opponent was on test level, some are old, and others aren’t openers, Connerly into the mid order asap and Konstas, but I’d prefer he had more shield innings but we are where we are.

Surely Konstas following a 151 and a 71 in redball cricket must bring him into consideration .A lot better than Maddinson

Batting averages first 2 tests show 3 batsmen failing with averages below 30
Maddinson ave 14
Webster ave 16
Smith ave 21
Carey ave 25 which is normally acceptable for a keeper
Head 39 ,Marnus 32 , and Renshaw 74 pass this very basic criteria
You can't drop Smith who has a career ave of 55 if he is FULLY FIT ?
That means Maddinson and Webster should be replaced with Connolly and Inglis .
If reinstating Lyon then keeping Boland means Hazo misses out
He got sick in PE and came back in looking like he was still ill
Wickets Hazo 8 ( all in 1st test )
Starc 6 ,Cummins 4 ,Boland 5 ( all in 2nd test )
Note both Cummins and Hazelwood wicketless in 2nd test
All in All the kindest word to describe our 2nd test performance is ---
DISGRACEFUL

Sam peeling tons for fun, 149 in the one dayer again WA yesterday batting 3 but was in early. That’s about 450 runs since Maddo was selected.
Now I’d prefer Sam spent another year at state level, but if he keeps scoring runs then he must start the summer at home.

Yeah if the runs keep flowing , he will pressure the selector
I still worry about his batting style and world class bowling ....gotta be able to build an innings and not try and slog your way out of sustained pressure

The Sri Lanka v England game must have been a great finish the other night running down 429 .....I saw they needed 230 off 130 balls and it was late 😑

I still worry about his batting style and world class bowling ....gotta be able to build an innings and not try and slog your way out of sustained pressure

over the last 12 months. At the backend of last and start of this, he was scoring 30’s with a good amount of balls faced. and the last month you can see him start to improve. That’s why I say another season in state building his game for longevity would be ideal but sometimes your country can’t wait and you need to do it at the top.

Yeah two blokes got 150 off about 75 balls. I didn’t watch it either. But that’s what t20 has done, no target is to big if you get on a roll.
