Exceptional performance across the whole tournament from a seriously good squad.
Even Watson, now he's down the order where he should be, contributed well.

& tonight they were completely unbeatable.

So it looks like the Kiwi's can't play on a proper Cricket Ground…

Which of the wickets we took today wouldn't have occurred on a smaller ground? The Kiwi's ran in to a freight train, plain and simple. If they were holing out or getting run out on an attempted three, sure, but this was just Australia at the top of their game.
Unfair comment Geo.

Don't think they played on wickets in NZ that had the same pace and bounce that the MCG has so i stand by my comment…

And again, how many wickets were a result of that? It was a pretty two-paced pitch, the only wickets where bats looked beaten by pace was through the air, not off the deck (McCullum, Anderson). I doubt any team in the world could have stayed with us tonight, it was a complete performance.

Vanilla is correct. To blame that defeat on the ground displays a serious lack of knowledge. This Australian side is complete. They bat to number 10, they have 7 bowlers, 4 or 5 are elite fieldsmen….they are just class.

No current squad, even the Saffas, would have beaten them yesterday.

Hard to disagree, they gave them a schooling. That side is loaded with big match experience.

A big congratulations has to go NZ's way though. They were phenomenal throughout the tournament and well deserved to be the other finalist. Just a shame they didn't bring their best game as it would have been great to see both teams firing on the day.

A fitting way to send captain courageous off.

No doubt..Australia were far too good in all facets of the game on the day….mearly pointing out that NZ playing all there matches on there turf wasn't an ideal preparation for a true Cricket ground that is the MCG...Allan Border must be a numpty as well as he said as much in commentary...

They did beat us ...only just in the preliminary stages over there

The Aussies are an awesome side atm. Lots of good young players in the side now. Starc, Cummins, Hazelwood , Maxwell, Faukner, Smith-even Warner and Finch will be around for the next World Cup in England.

As a kiwi let me first say congrats to Aussie. 7 Wicket victory in a final is a smashing. I think my boys played there final against SA.I was Hopping for a better game but then again I was really just hopping for a better result. Except for the game in Auckland, Aussie smashed everyone they played, all comprehensive wins, so you are worthy champs.

Can't believe Guppy made the World XI. Before the WI game most NZers wanted to drop him. Only 1 score in the tournament. Maxwell is another I'd question however I did not watch every Aus game

Australia would probably beat that side tbh.

Dharwan would have been a better selection than either opener. McCullum broke a few games open, but barely saw the end of the power play all tournament. Guppy as you said scored all his runs in one inning.

Maxwell definitely warrants selection, batted at 64.8 (second in the Aus team a couple of runs below Smith), with a strike rate of 182, with two fifties and a century, as well as chiming in with some wickets and run outs. Definitely a coming of age tournament for him.

That would be interesting to see considering three plays would be playing themselves

Absolute class performance from the Australian team, thoroughly deserved winners.

It was a dominant performance but I wouldn't say they showed too much class, pity there isn't biff allowed in cricket…..smartarse Haddin and Johnson might've deservedly got put on their arse.

Haddin's a first class KNOB IMO .
I know it was a World Cup Final and emotions run high but his actions were a disgrace !
