Crowd expectations

I thought the crowd was reasonable but the area needs a NRL Team based there, not token games from 2 inner City Clubs. How the ARLC is going to achieve that and still keep the current structure of Wests Tigers will be interesting.

Hi, I'm the phantom & it's round 20 , Monday night tigers v eagles.
Post title DUMP C'TOWN, POOR CROWD
why do they keep playing games at Ctown? We are a business. They don't deserve a team, no support blah blah blah blah…... same old garbage ...... BORING

Since 1908 crowds have had a tendency to stay away when their teams do not perform (read win).

I've got a sneaky feeling that if we were leading the comp, last night there would have been a few more people in the crowd, rain or not, cambo or not.

Add to that, Fox Sports & channel 9 playing every game live or delayed and there is another dis-incentive to go to the ground.

We are going to get more of the same with this team in 2013\. They are going to get smashed one week and play gutsy the next. We, as supporters, can accept that so long as we can see things getting better in the long term.

I no longer accept that our team can't compete with so-called strong teams (read wealthy) like brisbane, bulldogs, roosters etc. all teams have good times but some have more goods times than others.

Not big enough to stop all the C-town bashers coming out of their holes

Seriously give **CCS** the flick, the people of **McCarther** don't embrace the Tigers. We are running a business, you can't run a business with this type of support.

First of all - a person trying to throw stones and look down their nose at the Macarthur area should at least have the decency to get some bread and butter basics right - otherwise they just look like an elitist buffoon.

*CSS

*Macarthur

Now,

Night games against sub-standard teams doesn't help.

Also, when you run a business, you need to provide a quality product at a decent price.

From a purely business standpoint, (taking the emotive values aside) This year they have not provided a quality product, and as a result sales have suffered. Its nothing to do with the so called perception of a lack of support from the Macarthur area.

Campbelltown always seems to get stuck with Raiders, Penrith, Warriors and the like - Teams that don't really rate well either.

having said that, SFS games are not the solution - I went to the Tigers/Sharks game a few weeks ago, and it had a crowd of 9800 - in a stadium that has a capacity of 45000.

Improving the product will improve the crowds - it is seriously that simple.

Wests Tigers recorded a hard fought 22-20 victory over the North Queensland Cowboys at Leichhardt Oval tonight in round 11 of the Telstra Premiership.

In front of a crowd of 7125, the match was played in wet conditions but for those Wests Tigers supporters who braved the weather, they would have walked away very excited after seeing their team end a seven game losing streak. It was the third win of the season for Wests Tigers.

Yes thats right 7125 at LO with robbie and woods in the team
Campbelltown had nearly 8000 pretty good considering weather, injuries and our origin stars out and playing another team that doesn't bring alot of fans thats pretty good if u all want to bag cambo why dont u bag your beloved Leichhardt oval then!!!!!!! Where were all u baggers sitting in front of a tv screen? Your tiger fans well travel to go to the games the people of macarthur arent the only ones who shld b at campbelltown!!

Something that tends to get over looked while people are usually too busy whinging about the crowds is our record there. Its as good, if not better than anywhere we play, including Leichhardt. We've won 11 of our last 15 there.

I go to most of the games & was there last night, The crowd last night wasnt great but a lot of the people i talk to in the Club before & after the game say the same thing as Underdog is saying, we play the same Teams there every year, Penrith ,Canberra, & Warriors. Since the merger i dont think the Tigers have played Souths out there yet, Also how many Sunday games have they had, Yes i know Leichhardt hasnt either which is stupid as both venues need Sunday games, & a bit of variety.

After that match there was even a thread on how good the turnout was for such terrible weather. Last night was even worse and our club looking in even worse form with our stars missing. Great turn out in my opinion, and I think majority of complaining about the crowds at campbelltown is a joke, they support as much as any of our other stadiums.

I get sick of seeing after every match that ctown had a poor crowd whilst every leichardt game is about how 'playing At the old girl got them over the line.' Travel to all the grounds and support us at every stadium like tiger girl said, problem solved.

I asked the same questions about souths and was told the last time we played them at campbelltown was in 2000\. So glad I went last night saw our blokes really put in despite the raiders on a roll and us missing two very key forwards. The crowd size wasn't bad considering the lowsy weather which had been predicted.

Next year , We have to get rid of that SCG home game and another SFS & play 5 games at Leichhardt & 5 at Campbelltown ….until Mr Meriton decides to go into building & leaving a legacy to the Wests a tigers Club with it's own one purpose built Stadium

Sadly didn't make it out due to illness.

Thought it was a great turnout in the circumstances

Its funny I recall a multitude of congrats to those who attended the NQ game, by everyone from the players, to commentators and threads here yet the corresponding game and crowd last night and previously seems to just get criticism for the main part.

I get that it was cold and wet @ 7pm, but they had 4 games of footy yesterday which started on a sunny Saturday afternoon…

Isnt this what alot of footy fanatics have been calling for for a few years? Saturday Afternoon Footy; All 3 Grades [lucky we had 4 yesterday]; GF Rematch for the NYC boys; Cheaper Tickets etc which resulted in the WT backs against the wall victory?!

Surely the Wests Magpies RMC supporters turned up. Surely the NSW Cup supporters turned up… I actualy thought this would be our best crowd this year?

Always the same excuses???
Last crowd at LO was worse… No Doubt. But in all reality
1: The weather was far worse at LO last out
2: It was on a Friday Night
3: Tickets were full price (Or $25 with a sausage)
4: There was only 2 games
5: We were playing a North Queensland Team

The Macarthur have the lamest excuses for not supporting "Their" Team I have ever come across
Its always the Ticket Prices - Saturday was $10
Value for money - 4 Quality Games
Lack of competition - Penrith is just up the road, Canberra is a top 8 team and a cruisy drive up the highway
WT's don't embrace the local community - Since round 2, They have been out there to no end, Promos for the local Juniors, Movie Nights, Instores... You name it.
(Next week when LO gets a bigger crowd, It will be because we won at Campbelltown)

I'm sick of the lack support for the Wests Tigers in the SWS being the Tigers Fault...
For the most part, Saturday was a great day for Footy.
4 Games from a local team at a bargain price
Local boy coming back from injury
The excuses are wearing a bit thin people....

Simple fact is, SWS aint what it was in 1987, Rugby League fans are the minority out there these days... It won't change anytime soon

Sad for who could and wasn't there. I had tickets but couldn't make it ( tonsillitis). For those who are critics but did not attend there is a word for you. Hypocrites .Big ones at that

I find it hilarious some who manage to go to every game for whatever reason - or go to wet games, cold games, etc like to think theyre better than others, more of a supporter…laying guilt trips on others that couldnt/wouldnt or didnt attend for whatever reason that is no one elses business other than themselves

Some seem to feel they have to provide excuses for not going to those that did

The whole sham is pathetic, one big pissing contest

If youre life is that empty something like this makes you feel better then seek help.

Maybe we just need to accept OUR crowds are crap - period.
When the team starts playing better i know what will happen with the crowds, its a sure bet

Dont force your ethos onto others, we are all different

Isn't it common sense to assume that crowds will be down when
- your team Isn't doing well
- it is raining
- you play out of town teams (Raiders and Cowboys)
