Griffen and Mcconnachie will need to get used to fulltime training, it's certainly not something they would have done with Ipswich, so hopefully they adapt and respond well to the increased physical demands. Have to pencil both of them in for State Cup, but I'm hoping Mcconnachie might be able to force his way onto the bench and become an impact player for us.

With Taupau gone I give Griffin a big chance of making the Top 17

I'm a bit worried Billy may have homesickness issues

He's not 12… :unamused:

Don't have to be 12 to have homesickness. I used to get homesick really badly when I was on the tools, used to spend 9 out of 12 months away.

If this is the case why even bother ,after 6 weeks he disappears to go home ,honestly why bother not even worth the effort if he needs all the family living next door stop it now ….and find someone else that wants the opportunity and will sacrifice something for that goal .

You can work through homesickness, I did. It's not unusual to miss what's familiar to you.

Hope he becomes a star for us. Fulfills his dream to play for Scotland, maybe even Origin.
Anything is possible, if you want it bad enough and put the effort in. Wish him all the best.

Correct me if I'm wrong but he's spent the last 2 years in Ipswich and hails from Mt Isa which is a fair way from there….If he had issues they would have surfaced then one would think....Everything I've read has indicated McConnachie is super keen to prove himself in the NRL,,,,had offers from 4-5 Clubs 1 being the GC....

If I was guessing I think it's more Happy clutching at thin air....

Billy has a wife/girlfriend and kid doesn't he? They'd be coming down surely. And as others have said he was already living almost 2000km away from Mount Isa while in Ipswich, and not earning a huge amount either. He's further away now sure, but he wouldn't exactly have been popping back to Mount Isa during the week from Ipswich.

And having a mate like Rod coming down with him should help ensure he settles ok. The fact Rod knows the club and some of our players can also only help him settle in down here. If he was ok living in the Western suburbs of Brissie, then Sydney's west shouldn't be too different either, so the whole 'big smoke' effect should be lessened too.

Last bloke we had from Mt Isa won a Clive Churchill Medal

…...who then upped and left like a mangy dog. chasing money and his 'gift' of a free-of-charge house courtesy of shonky Titans management. Prince was a champ for us on the field without question but the manner in which he left WT in the lurch still leaves a bad taste.

It's Sydney…..where he will be moving from a Part-time two bit hack town.... to a professional environment with a chance to establish himself as an NRL player....so maybe you could send him a blanky from back home.....

I've heard of the term 'clutching at straws' before but you've taken the cake with that comment. I'll make sure I'm wearing my lucky grundies as well, hope that helps.

And I have always been superstitious FTB

If something works one day I will try it again

Wore the exact same clothes Melbourne Cup day as last year , went to the same place , same table , looked for the same barmaid

And the WT's will need every small amount of luck we can come up with to get within a bull's roar of the semis

Watto had heard of them both Ink

Especially seeing that Ipswich beat Easts twice and knocked his beloved Easts Tigers out of the semis

Probably still secretly hates them
