Wallabies will always call up potential players to the Wallabies if possible, to try and prevent code-hopping. Same thing has happened with Taqele and Koroibete.

But obviously few players get a regular run in the top side, way fewer than play Super Rugby, so eventually you are not part of the long-term plans and code-hopping becomes feasible again.

Any rugby league converts who haven't come back to league eventually?

Berrick Barnes.

OK but arguable as Barnes played junior rep rugby.

Israel and Hunt are two more. Unless you want to argue technicalities by saying they moved from league to AFL.

I believe that you have defined the word "Downgrade" in that statement.

Disappointing.

We have a lot of extremely similar players, small and powerful. We needed someone a bit taller and faster and he was both. High quality player who could have enabled us to score tries from our own half.

We need a fast winger or else we're reliant on scoring tries from 10m out.

Yep and with Teddy going it boggles my mind how some on here don't think guns like Rona aren't what we need.

Not interested in arguing technicalities, just noting that many players who go from league to union end up coming back. And that playing for the Wallabies is great but only happens consistently for a small number of players.

23 pages and none of you actually know why Rona was linked to the tigers? lol

He didn't like a Facebook post he made his own post that said "on the bus" with a bus emoji

It has nothing to do with a Facebook post. Smoking gun, who has had plenty of scoops turn out to be correct, stated that he had agreed to terms with us. This is where all the rumours sprouted from on here and in the media too.

Anyone follow Super rugby? From what I saw he was a fringe Wallaby at best but had potential and to me, this is exactly why the ARU are doing so much to keep him in their code.

Could the Rona rumour from SG be a miss rather than a hit…..?...

It very well could be. But that's not the point. Krayola was just pointing out that all this speculation didn't just start out from social media. SG mentioned that Rona had agreed to terms which prompted discussion

I believe he supposedly signed a letter of intent.
Says to me that if he left RU he would join us. He's not leaving RU - end of story

When SG mentioned he signed a letter of intent - it was after that the Rah Rah's offered him a spot on the Wallabies train on squad.

Different set of circumstances at that point. SG hasn't got a crystal ball.

He was just stating that at the time it looked like he may come to us. Hindsight is a beautiful thing!

If SG was right I don't see Wallabies selection making a difference. Depends on what his contract is and what the Tigers will offer. I can't see Cleary offering big money to Rona so if he has a decent Wallabies top up and moves to another franchise he will stay in Rugby. If not he will move back to the NRL. Money talks.

Thanks TigerKapa for clarifying. On a side note, I don't quite get the derision of most things SG… for a two-month period he spearheaded most of the interesting threads on here IMO and was even right on a few of his tips, not to mention he shared a very interesting tale about Blake Ferguson.

The only thing stopping the All Blacks getting to 100 is they'll get tired from scoring.
40-6 at half time.
Rona looks like a fish out of water - he can't be enjoying it.
