Curtis Sironen released [Official p.40]

Funny how this all comes about after his father makes a comment about creativity being coached out of some players - particularly when there are about another half dozen blokes who deserve to get dropped.
I think Paul Sironen is right - look at our wonderful second phase play from offloads, our halves taking options in front of them in attack …. non existent.
Can anybody seriously say we have any sort of game plan now?
Curtis Sironen does his job well in defence and people bagging him for not taking more hit ups don't have a clue- that shouldn't be his job.
He should be running wide of the ruck in attack and being given good ball.
Unfortunately the good balls don't appear very often.

Agree with this. He, more than any of the others, looks really unsure of their role and just generally lost out there.
There has also been the odd whisper of him having a questionable attitude, but I'd never really put much credence to it.

You could bring Siro into a team with a really strong pack and get away with it and you would hope things like work ethic, attitude and just basic forward play would rub off on him, but at the tigers its very hard to see him ever making the next step.

Funny I saw him play in u20s and even the odd junior rep and he never struck me as a player that had the the x factor, he was a big kid with some skill, but he never actually dominated. Of course the trouble if Curtis goes, younger brother will go and younger brother might actually turn out a goer

It is all about attitude ..this rubbish about Taylor not letting him play his natural game is just that garbage.Did Talyor tell him not to run hard and bend the line? Did Taylor tell him not to intimidate and hit hard in defence ,did Taylor tell him to give away heaps of penalties for being lazy? No a kid that was bigger than most with a bit of ball handling skill ,fast forward to facing men and there we have it .
Has been given IMO more than enough opportunity to shine good luck elsewhere but maybe that is what is needed a change and maybe an attitude change ,If this means the whole family spits the dummy so be it .But he has not gone anywhere yet!

I'm in two minds about him at the moment. I think Taylor has coached a lot of the football out of our pack, players like Sirro, Woods, Sue have all shown an offload in their game prior to Taylor coming in, but such is his willingness to have the team hold the ball, get to the 5th tackle and kick, these players are no longer allowed to play their natural game.

With players like Brooks, Moses, Tedesco who like to sniff around the ruck and support, I think it hurts their games too. If we made an effort to get some second phase play into our game, I reckon we would be going better.

Well written cq. The unloading of the ball between Lovett and Sironen in the City Country game in the lead up to a try wouldn't happen at WTs. The only reason it did is because Fittler encourages players to play their natural games.

Ok that would be what 20% of his game what about the other 80% but this seems to be ok .

Yep that's a good point Taylor's one dimensional approach to attack is making our attack easy to defend, predictable, mind numbing for the players and watchers alike.

If he goes I m not fussed, as long as we are not left paying 300k of his contract while he goes elsewhere

You've also failed to mention Sironen is one of our better, if not best defenders. Also one of the more prominent members of the 9 commentary team many moons back made mention that his attack should not be confined to one side of the field; he should be allowed to insert himself into the attack across the field. Why do you think this comment was made?

The Sharks are renowned for purchasing good forwards. Good luck to him as I'm sure the Sharks will fully utilise his skills.

How many players have to leave before the Club realises the dud is Taylor.

Yeah, you're right.

Fafita, Bryce Gibbs, Gareth Ellis, Heighington, Moors, Tom Humble, Beau Ryan, Ayshford, Marshall, Jacob Miller, BMM, Ed Pettybourne, Lote T, Korobibete, Blair, Austin left for huge $$ that we couldn't possibly match….the list goes on. Plenty of quality amongst that lot.

Tapau is getting paid overs elsewhere and performs sub standard. No Loss.

Maybe the only one I think was a bad release is Te Marie Martin - and even he is a long long way from being anything proven.

Did I miss anyone? All Taylors fault.

I'm keen to know which quality players we should have kept that Taylor directly moved on? More than happy to be proven wrong.

I'm hearing Sirro, Sue and Cherrington to be gone by June 30.

I highly doubt we would move Sue on this year, he's firmly entrenched in the 17 and we need him. The others maybe.
